Re: Singlehanding a PSC37???

Seacurves,

here's an idea that works for me.

Goal: hoist main at mast, but be able to drop main from cockpit.
Solution:
1. I tie a snatch block to aft rail (stern pulpit) and lead it just aft of main halyard line-clutch (anywhere in cockpit is fine, as long as it is lead fair from halyard line clutch).
2. Mainsail halyard bitter end goes through its line clutch, then through the snatch block, then returns to mast (not necessary to run it back to mast through deck organizers etc).
3. Keeping the halyard line clutch in the closed position (preventing sail from dropping), I hoist main halyard at the mast, alternating with pulling up the slack on main halyard bitter end (that has returned to mast from snatch block).
4. When sail is essentially hoisted at mast, return to cockpit, remove halyard bitter end from snatch block, and finish hoisting halyard with winch.

Re: Singlehanding a PSC37???

our PSC 37 Terrwyn also loves her "Strong Tack" and single line reefing so we can reef at most wind angles solo from the cockpit not a problem even in the night and blowing.
