You need to look closely at any possible gasket leakage now. If you did overpressure and it sounds likely you could have water leakage to the oil or oil leakage to the engine exterior. If the engine is running fine, you may have dodged that bullet.

If she's not smoking, dripping, steaming, or sputtering, then leave well enough alone and don't mess with it until she starts doing one of the aforementioned.

Hi Bill, Hi all,

Long day (with family)

Thanks for the concern, ideas, advice and weighing in. I found no water in the OIL, which is what I meant earlier when I had it reversed. I appears the Universal Atomic is rather robust. I cannot think of much worse to do than we did, and it survived.

She's is not smoking, dripping, steaming, or sputtering, and I do intend to leave well enough peaceably alone. I believe we luckily dodged a self made bullet.

Thank you Bill, and everyone else. I will now set to work generating my next gaff for general Sailnet amusement.

Happy Easter

One additional comment that no one ever mentioned to me. Some day if your exhaust is black iron pipe as many universals have it will fail and likely as not you will think you are on fire as the cabin fills with diesel smoke. Most of the pipe is wrapped with fiberglass packing so visual is difficult. If you run at higher RPM you will likely pump in more water than you can pump out. cut the RPMs get to port and replace the pipe. Not a real hard job. Just no one mentions about the exhaust system failing.
