Never got anything out of bleed nut??

HI PC, Thanks for the help.

If that doesn't work, you can carefuly loosen the nut behind the bleed plug and turn on the lift pump. Fuel (and bubles) should run out. If not, you have a leak somewhere before the injector pump.

That is the thing? I could get no fuel to come out of the bleed valve on the injector pump? Is it clogged?

I thought I could undo the nut just under the bleed valve, but it would not budge, AND I did not want to force it. It felt like it was not the right size for my wrench and was going to rounf off or break.

I do appreciate your advice. Sounds like ytou know exactly what I am talking about. MY universal atomic 40 is running great now it seems.

Have a great day

When you open the bleed valve, no fuel will escape...just the air.

I too didn't believe it was working...which is why I loosened the nut.

I tried it one day and noticed the pump change from a high pitch to a low pitch. I have never loosened the nut again. Good idea not to force it.

great advice

Hey PCS,

Thanks for the advice. If any air does come out of that valve, it is very little or very quiet. It seems I can operate the engine with that nut removed.

Oh well,, I am going to cast my attentions elsewhere aboard to mess with something else.

I ma sure i will create new problems shortly.

I do greatly appreciate the assistance !!

Glad it worked out, sorry I was away and didn,t get back in time to clarify my suggestions. These business trips are sore on the liver
If you don,t have a mechanical fuel pump then turning on the ignition should charge the system, fuel will then appear at the bleed screw on the injector pump, air will be expelled as bubbles.
I see Faster put you straight on the raw water cooling danger when over cranking.
Safe sailing
