Is the headsail sheet supposed to go around the block and then to the winch? As you can see in the picture if I do that I run the risk of ripping off the engine blower exhaust port (happened once).
Yes, it should go through the block (winches may be designed to only handle strain from 1 direction), the engine vent should be safe unless you get a lot of slack in the line and it suddenly the sail fills, even then I think the vent should be able to handle it.

You could also get a 2nd fairlead on the track or maybe rig a barber hauler to clear the cowl.
