Boat Covers

Thanks for the concern for Grace in Irene - no problems.

Our next order of business is putting the old girl to bed. Last year we had some ice buildup on deck and pretty much trashed our brightwork. We're now planning on making a boat cover.

Question - which is a better cover material - TopGun or Surlast ? TopGun is heavier and lasts longer but Surlast is easier to sew, handle and store.

We're thinking of making a boom tent with cutouts at each stanchion with a BoatBlanket lining at the caprail. We would use the whisker pole with a wooden support for the foredeck support. The inner forestay would be stowed.

We're fairly new to the winter games with boats, coming from South Texas, and would appreciate any feedback.

Thanks,
Sam and Ginger
