Pacific Seacraft 31 - Forward Bulkhead

Hi Everyone.....

I've been studying 31's over the past week or so and noticed a different forward bulkhead configuration on one boat that I've not seen in other 31's. The forward bulkhead continues past the cabin sides up to the coachroof vs the standard configuraton of stopping at deck level (pictures attached comparing the two). Anyone aware of this configuration/option from PSC or is this something an owner customized?

Factory does custom work, these boats are basically hand built, so the original owner probably requested it. It gives a little more wall space, but it might make getting out of the berth a little difficult.

You'll see quite a few iterations. Notice the space behind the starboard settee is different. I would not have requested the bulkhead change as it's one more place to bang your head.

I have the bulkheads as in the upper photo on my 31, hull#9. I assume they were original installation. I kinda like having the additional surface area to mount things on. Often end up storing stuff forward and they help keep things from sliding out in rough seas. And when not storing stuff up there, it's kinda cozy, with the curtains closed, for 2 sleeping. The other configuration looks nice, too.
