Probably the use of magnetic stainless was the reason it has a hole in it. Magnetic stainless rusts , non magnetic stainless doesnt . Cruise the scrapyards with a magnet and buy a non magnetic one. Check all sink parts with a magnet. Cut the hole to fit whatever you find.

Re: need a new sink

We previously owned a 1985 PSC37 with a corroded sink and replaced it with a Scandvik two bowl galley sink. It was not a perfect fit and required some minor alterations to the counter top and plumbing. Some of the teak fiddles around the sink were rotten when we removed them and had to be replaced.

Re: need a new sink

I posted this in another thread some time ago:

Our sink was filled with very small crevasse corrosion holes on the side with the salt water tap. The surveyor missed them, but we found them the first time we washed dishes. Looking up from inside the cabinet the bottom of the sink looked like a planetarium with dozens of points of light. The temporary fix was to buy a can of Bondo and a pair of rubber gloves and rub the Bondo over the bottom of the sink. Little green Bondo worms came up through the stainless, and when they hardened we broke them off. That worked for a year until we were able to find a sink that was just a little wider than the original.

Re: need a new sink

Boat jobs?? Always take months to years longer to finish and don’t worry about the price after you estimate the cost just move the decimal place over to the right,. I installed a standard kitchen sink .Cut the hole once because its easier to find standard size sinks to fit and the tap set are easier to find and there are more styles to choose from. When you use them the plates fit inside not like most boat sinks you have to wash the dishes on there edge. Cheaper because they don’t say “MARINE” on the box.
