Quantity and storage for anchor chain for a Pacific Seacraft 31

Have a 1989 PSC 31. There is 100 feet HT 5/16 and 200 feet 8 plait rode on the starboard roller. Have a horizontal Muir electric windlass. Have to stop at times and use the original chain hole to stick my hand in to flop chain about. I have though that one could open the floor of the chain locker and put another floor in it to allow a straight drop of chain. If I were going on the trip you plan I would see about doing this. I did go to the 8 plait rode as it occupies less space.
On the port side I have 50 feet of 5/16 HT and about 250 feet of three strand rode.
Take a look into the storage space at the front on the V berth. You will see a lot of room there.

We have a PSC 34 and had a dock mate last year with a PSC 31. We both carry a lot of chain. Without a lot of cruising gear the bows of both boats sit low in the water. I found that makes the boat's motion less comfortable. We compensated by leaving the forward water tank empty.

We are filling our boat with cruising gear this spring and expect the extra weight towards the stern will balance things out.

Put a traffic cone in the bottom of your locker and it won't pile up in a cone shape, fall over, and jam.

I have 150' 5/8" nylon with 80' of 5/16 chain in the SB and 150' 5"8 nylon with 35' 5/16 chain in the port. The nylon rode is stiff so sometimes I have to manually push it down, with better nylon rode it all would fit easily.

Does anyone have a second anchor on the bow? if so, what length chain and rode do you have for that one? Both of Hinei'ni's anchors have chains and rode, but I haven't gotten up the energy to drop the anchors and pay out everything to figure out what I've got.

Ok, I can now report for other's benefit, that the PSC 31 holds 200ft. of 5/16 chain.
