Electric Windlass on PSC 34

I'm looking to install a new electric windlass on my PSC34 and wondering if anyone out there has already tackled this issue on their 34. I'm concerned about using the same basic platform that my current windlass uses, (I know all the holes will be different) but didn't want to off set the windlass to much in order to line up the chain. It seems that most of the windlass are so much fatter than my Muir Hercules. I really like the Lofrans Tigress but I'm considering the Cayman because it's profile is a better fit. Any thoughts??

Carl:
Was considering the same upgrade on our PSC37 from the manual, and I snapped some pics of an electric Muir Storm 2200 on a new PSC (31?) that we saw at Annapolis a few years back.

Note the wedge shaped platform that it sits on. I'm sure the factory could set you up w/one.

Here are some pics:

I installed an IDEAL Windlass on our 37 back in 2001. Never had a problem. If I can find the pictures will post on the site. Never did pics before so this will be a learning experience. If you can get to the IDEAL website I remember they posted pictures of the installation but that was back in 2001.

I'm a single hander, so although I really liked the manual windlass that was on my boat, I replaced it with a LoFrans Tigres. I have a Manson Supreme 45lb anchor, 240' of 5/16HT chain. I have only had it all in place for a week but testing around with it I am quite happy.

Thanks for the replies and pictures. Nice shots of the Muir but I'm going in the direction of a horizontal mount. Thor, its good to hear the Tigres works on the PSC, that's really what I wanted to hear. I also found that a PSC 31 "Cool Change" had fit a Tigres on his boat on the recommendation from the folks at Pacific Seacraft. Lofrans Tigres it is. thanks

That would be very nice if not to much trouble, thank you. I'm a cutter rig, and one of my concerns was being able to remove the back cover for servicing. It would approximately be just a few inches forward of the deck hardware for the staysail. I've since decided not to make that an issue.

Had trouble uploading pics so put them on this blog thing. Let me know if there are any others you would like. One primary difference is that my boat is not cutter rigged. Its a sloop with a solent stay. I did try and get you some pictures that you cold spatially relate to your boat. Hopefully of some use.

Thor,
Thanks for the pics, they were perfect for my needs. Sounds like we are on the same track for the anchoring system. I too bought the Manson with 175ft of 5/16 HT and 260ft of rode. The tigres will be the final piece and the remote will be the cherry on top. Thanks for all the help.
