Propeller Shaft Packing Material

Does anybody know what size shaft packing material the P40s take? If they are all the same? Mine is a 1983, Hull #49. It looks like 1/4 inch material is the stuff to use on my boat, but not 100% sure. Don't have a micrometer handy down here in Mexico. It is back home in my shop. How handy.
