I'm with you, KTB. Pearson made too good a boat for this list to be empty. At least the email list is active, right?

I am also a happy Pearson owner, actually my second Pearson, the first was sold due to work constrants, moving etc. but when I came back I searched out another Pearson. Interesting note, my first one was hull 223 and my second is hull 221, just like comming home. May be we can get others to tell about how they came to be Pearson owners and get this list going.

Pearson 30

I just bought a Pearson 30 that had fallen over in a yard.
The insurance company said it cracked the hull and totalled it. So the price was right!
But I had a feeling about this and it turned out the "cracks" were just the colored threads along the edge that hold the woven cloth together on the roll. Not so for the two power boats it fell on, each sustained signifigant damage. Pay backs are hell.
The motor was a pile of rust so in the process of re-powering with another rebuilt automic 4 and repainting the bottom.
Looking forward to a good sail.

Why are we here?

What is the purpose of this forum anyway? Is it like an e-mail list without having to join the Pearson e-mail list?

seems to be

or possibly they're intending to phase out the email list later on, only reason I can think of to duplicate them. Not saying that's the reason, just trying to figure out why.

or possibly a way of letting people who don't want on the email list to take part in discussions.

I do love my Pearson.

Besides getting a phenomenal deal and buying the boat from someone we knew well (and whose meticulous nature when it comes to his sailboats is known far and wide), we loved the classic look and sturdiness of her. Talk about a boat falling in your lap...we were starting to put the word out that we'd be looking for a boat toward the end of the season...something in the 30' - 32' range, comfortable for cruising but something that could handle a race if we really felt like it (DH still races our previous boat, an S2 7.9 that points like a dream). Well, not even 36 hours after speaking to one particular friend, she called us and informed us that we'd be buying a boat that afternoon. Next thing we know, we've bought a Pearson 35.

I wouldn't necessarily recommend buying a boat in that fashion, but like I said, we knew the seller well and we had absolute faith in the way he cares for his boats. And sometimes it's just meant to be.

Red face Empty List

I just bought a "69" Pearson 24 after looking at a triton in ohio that was so bad it would have been atleast two years and probably a marriage before it hit the water. I was hopeing that this would be an active list with a lot of knowledgeable people and maybe finding enough old Pearsons here on Lake Michigan to make it more interesting. This doesn't seem to be the case. Please tell me I am wrong.
I am planning a short cruise with my brother from White Lake to the Door Peninsula of Wisconsin later this summer, so I may have some good tales to tell. Thanks for listening.
