Spreader boots for P27?

Does anyone know of a source for the spreader boots on a P27? The spreaders are the "wing" shaped kind and not the round type. thanks.

yikes! lol

I was thinking of the rubber ones but specifically the ones that fit the "wing" shaped spreaders. Those polyester boots are interesting though... maybe those would work.

I know which ones you mean, and could not find them online yet. They are shaped to fit ht erectangular spreaders.

I also like the polyester ones, because you can install them fast and easy.

On my boat my sail never reaches the spreader, but on my previous boat I just used the round rings I showed you. Much cleaner, lighter and simple.

So you had a positive experience with the rings then? I thought those were interesting and they looked like they would work well. We have a 120 genoa (or maybe a 110... not sure yet since we've yet to sail her.) I have the old rubber boots that came with purchase but they have dry rotted beyond use so i thought i would be good to replace them rather than nothing at all. The last thing i want to do is rip the headsail. No... actually the last thing i want to do is sink the boat... but you know what i mean.

Yes, of all crap we can put in the spreaders I prefer the rings, they roll and chafe is much much less.

Make sure you buy the ones from HArken, as they don't rot in the sun, the other brands are very bad.

You need to put some tape or tie plastic thinghy above the ring so it does not climb. You can also put a ring below, I didn't. Some boats have them above and below.

Here is a photo of my spreader on a boat I had before. See the ring there?

The rollers look like a good way to go for chafe protection but i was thinking that maybe the boots would help protect the shroud/spreader joint from weathering as well. Maybe that's not as big a concern as sail chafe though.

Is that a Micky Mouse spinnaker?

I don't know that model you showed but seems even better, as they are thicker.

Don't worry about weathering and corrosion at the spreader. In fact I think its worse if you cover it.

Yes, that is the M ickey Mouse Spinnaker. I had it made to please my Son Fred...Actually made at his request!!

That 1st photo was taken before I glued the other side Mickey.
