Setting Sun in San Francisco

We acquired the P323 Setting Sun a couple of years ago and actively sailed the San Francisco Bay. Last month we sailed the boat down to Mazatlan where the boat will remain for a couple of months before doing the bash early next year. The trip down the coast of California and Mexico was excellent - the boat performed well and we didn't experience any serious issues!

Stuck on Lake

Owned Hull #245 for four years. Some on the Gulf Coast the rest on a lake. The last passage was about 100 miles overnight from Panama City,Fl to Pensacola Florida . 20 Kts and 6' waves but she felt very secure all night. Then we motored 450 miles up the Tennessee Tombigbee waterway. We hope to return to the sea within the next year. The boat has always felt safe in all conditions but we have never been out in any really nasty weather.

We bought Hull# 296 (1981) in October 2005. We sail from Southern Maine on the Piscataqua River to Downeast Maine (Penobscot Bay and beyond). We love the P-323. We sailed a Bristol 24 for 25 years and the move up in size has been a joy.

I'm a recent 323 owner

Rob. That may have been my boat that you saw at the Mouth of the Mystic River this summer. We bought her in late June. It's a 1977 with a fairly recent Yanmar 30GM3. Where are you berthed?

Cool Looks like I beat it at Hull #2

Bonnelaine:

After reading Rob's post, I decided to check my Hull number. Looks like our P-323 is #2. Rob must have gotten up real close and personal one day to check out the Serial number. Our Sails have no numbers on them.

We purchased the boat in June '07 from an owner in Westport, MA. It replaced a 1986 C-30 that we had sold the previous year. The good news is that the admiral loves the boat so much better than the C-30. It is so easy to sail and feels nice and "stout."

We are currently in the process of have new upholstery made. Also having a custom swim ladder installed (the current one is a junky WM add on).

I hope Rob stops by in person for a visit or drink this summer. He will have to pass us each time he leaves the river.

I am new to this site and have a feeling that I will be posting several questions in the coming weeks. HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!!

I've just partnered in with another friend on Hull Number 110. We sail on San Francisco Bay out of the Berkeley Marina and have done for several years. I started out as a Laser sailor and then skippered a Frisco Flyer through the Sea Scout program for about four years. Our 323 has a pretty good "to do" list, but has proven to be a fine sail.

Sorry guys, got tied up for awhile. Yes, this is the fabled Mystic, Ct. and I recommend a visit. Lots of transient slips available along the river and at the Seaport, great restaurants and shopping. Mike emailed me and we'll be getting together this summer, I'm just upriver of him. My 323 is North Wind and I bought her just south of Albany and brought her down the Hudson. The Hudson is a phenomenal trip, as was the cruise around Manhatten. She's in pretty good shape, loaded but everything is dated. Sailed her out to Block Island a few times, found out she handles 10 foot waves and 30+ winds with no problem.

Hey Chuck, we must have passed each other on the Hudson. I think I looked at your boat last Spring in Groton. Was it at the Shinnecosset Yacht Club?

Hull 350

We have #350. A friend's father had it built in 1982. My friend and I sailed it more than his dad. We finally bought it together, then 7 years ago, he sold out to me. We used to sail the Great Lakes but moved the boat to the Chesapeake in 2003.

It's nice to know a boat from the day it was delivered.

I swear I never touched Oasis II! I looked at her in Mass about a month before she was sold. It was a nice surprise to see her again. I'm docked at Fort Rachel Marina on the north side of the Mystic Rail Bridge.
