Angry P30 Rudder repair.

I have a 1972 Pearson 30. It was bought last Sept. 2013. When we pulled her out of the water for the first time, I live in Ohio, so she has to come out for the winter. I found that there was a 8 inch in diameter blemish in the rudder that the previous owner kept putting epoxy in for the last number of years. I believe that the rudder needs rebuilt. Does anyone have any information on these rudders, or where I can get the foam core. Any information that I can get would be helpful. D R Marine wants $1900 for a whole new rudder. Not going to happen. Please help.

eherlihy will become famous soon enough
Foss foam probably has the pattern for the Pearson 10m, and it will be cheaper than D n R.

I don't think P30 rudders have any core, at least the one I tried to cut open appeared to be solid. I drilled holes and cut it with a circular saw and never hit anything but fiberglass.

Try Foss Foam, it may be where D R gets their rudders. $1900 really isn't a bad price, but you may find one a little cheaper. Used rudders come along too, there were over 1000 P30s made.

I'm still trying to figure out the right place to post, but I'm not sure this is it. I have a pearson 33-2 and I'm trying to replace the OEM cove stripe. anybody have an idea where I can find it?
