Others will know better than I, but I believe the general rule is that while less is best, a max draft of 5 feet is not too restrictive.

Whatever you do be sure to view the boat in question first hand before committing to anything, and arrange for a proper survey before proceeding further.
For an owner to have so little knowledge of 'his own' boat is rather frightening.
