New Pearson 26 owner

Hi everbody, I am glad to report I am the new owner of a 1978 Pearson26 Hull number 725. It is curently in Lake Grapevine TX (near Ft. Worth).

I have had it out once and except for some minor engine problems everything went well.

My problem is locating a trailer for it so I can move it to Lake Waco and do some work on it. i have all but given up on finding a loaner and am now looking to buy or have one built. I need measurments for the trailer if any one can help.

About 10 years ago I owned a Pearson 28 (85) that I bought in Ft Lauderdale and sailed back to Houston area and trailered to Waco.

Jim

Pearson trailer

Good Luck...
I owned a 1970 Pearson 26 for 12 years on Buzzards Bay. I never considered what you are talking about as it was very cost effective to have a local yard launch the boat in the spring and have it hauled on a travel lift and brought home in the fall.
While you should be able to haul the boat in a Ford F250 or F350, I would be concerned about stepping and un-stepping that mast without a crane or heavy equipment.

Good Luck!

Call Richard Clary at Lavida Starships in Lewisville. He has a hydraulic trailer and can move the boat for you. Home Page

Also...I bought a 1978 26 One Design in March. Had to replace the rudder. Other than that it is very clean, solid and original. The original part I like because it's not hacked up with someone else's carpentry/electrician/plumbing efforts. Came with two head sails (100 & 150) in very good condition and a main that is clean with no stains but a little soft. I just finished making a cockpit grate and it turned out pretty nice. I've also made new handrails for the cabintop and refinished the wood around the companionway. I made a new box for the electric panel. The original was too shallow so I made the new one a little deeper. Added a simple depthfinder too. Got a new Nissan 6hp long shaft outboard. Now I'm working on the hull sides. Sanding, compounding, polishing and waxing. I'm fixing a couple gouges in the gel coat first and removing the old numbers, boat name and stripe. Got new decals ready to go on when finished. The only thing I don't like about it is it's YELLOW. Yuck...the wife likes it though.
