pearson 31-2 ice box

I have a pearson 31-2 . does anyone know how to drain the ice box?

Not familiar with that particular model, but I've seen plenty where it was done with a bailing bucket and sponge . . . If you don't see an obvious drain at the low point of the box, that might be the answer (unfortunately).

Are you sure there isn't a drain hole that's just hidden by some crud?
I have one in my box but it's more on the side than the bottom and is hard to see.

I have the Pearson 33-2 and the icebox drain is plumbed to a hand pump that pumps into the sink in the head. I believe your boat is similar, except that the pump is located next to the galley sink.

thnx guys and gals I have a drain but I think it is elec. I turned on all the breakers but none of them work it.

Now is the time to get to know your boat up close and personal. You need to open everything that opens, stick your head in with a flashlight and figure out every thing you see. Find all thru hulls, bilge pumps, sump pumps, etc. Look at every hose and figure out its purpose.
When you have done that, you will know if you have an electric pump on your drain or not. I'm guessing not. Most likely it either drains into the bilge or is connected to a sink drain for overboard discharge. Many have a foot pump. Can't say I've ever heard of anyone having an electric pump to drain the icebox.

After you're done looking all over the boat, go to your electric panel and figure out what every switch is used for.

You've been asking lots of questions about your boat, which is good. Some are strickly Pearson related and should be asked on the Pearson forum. If it's not directly related to Pearsons, you may find answers quicker on other forums like the general discussion forum.

I strongly agree with Chuck. ^

In the picture below, the hand pump over the galley sink should be the icebox drain pump. If not, it has probably been modified by a previous owner. If it has been plumbed to a sink drain, with or without an electric pump, it will probably need a vented loop.

Had the same issue and a friend with a Pearson 27 recalled the pump in the galley sink. I felt so stupid! All's well that ends well though.

the pump works by you pumping the handle up and down fast enough to gain some suction and draw the water from the ice box so dont think a few pumps and water will come gushing out. might take a bit to get it primed. The water then goes out the through hull located under the sink
