P-30 prospective owner

I am considering a '74 Pearson 30 and I would appreciate some help with questions. What has been your experience with trucking the boat? Where do I get a cradle? Any leaky hull/deck joints? Anyone fixed the "Pearson swirl" in the non-skid? How? I'm interested in maybe adding hot/cold pressure water w/shower. Has anyone done this? How difficult and expensive was it?
How hard/expensive to paint the mast and boom? (Before launch)

Thanks for any help!

Re: P-30 prospective owner

I've fixed the Pearson deck swirl.
not hard. remove all deck hardware.
light ***very light*** sanding of nonskid
paint and rebed hardware.
about 6 years ago and still looks great.
very pleased with the results

Re: P-30 prospective owner

you're welcome. the boat also has pressurized water system and had hot water. the belt driven pump for water pressure is located on the starboard side of the v berth, just aft of the factory installed tank. I believe this may have been added after the factory as there are 2 disconnected foot pumps (one in the head and one at the galley sink) but not sure.
the hot water tank - a 6 gallon raritan unit, 120v, and heat exchanger plumbed to the engine - was removed a couple of years ago. In all the years i've only plugged into shore power once and found the space it took to be far too valuable....so overboard it went. (sort of regretting this decision but that's the way it goes....) it was located at the aft end of the quarter berth.

a shower was a factory option on the p30. I've thought about adding this as there is already a drain in the floor of the head and a simple Tee into the existing plumbing. but there are a couple of problems - this drain emptys directly into the bilge and i think you would have to figure out how to install a shower sump with its own overboard pump, thru hull, etc. I never looked into it further but i think locating the sump my be an issue as the bilge is not deep enough. you will also need to figure out a way to protect the finish surfaces in the head. seemed like more trouble then it was worth.

Good luck and have fun with her. the P30 is a great little big boat
