Now here's a column that actually makes me hope that Obama wins not only the primary but the general election as well!

A Liberal's strange new respect for Ronald Reagan

George Will and Sean Wilenz discuss the presidency, the two parties, and Ronald Reagan. An excellent primer on how we've gotten to where we are now.

From the Dept. of You Can't Make This Up!

Horse Race Blog
Before the Kentucky Derby, Hillary Clinton urged supporters to "go to the derby on Saturday and place just a little money on the filly for me."

For the record, Eight Belles finished second and was then euthanized.

The winner was Big Brown.

Just who is the party of the rich?

Interesting little article on just who supports who ...

sck5 is on a distinguished road
I looked at that article - Notice they are looking at the "Dem Presidential field" and finding rich donors. There is a big difference between candidates though - Hillary has way more rich donors than Obama who has gotten a lot of his money in small on-line donations.

So what are everyone's thoughts on a plausible Obama / Clinton ticket? Less Edwards whom stated he will not run as a side kick... when it is all said and done it does make sense... what other Dem can run as a Vice... I think McCain is dropping the ball not announcing whom he is running with as well... Seems a bad time to leech on the laurels of the Dem party fiasco...

Edwards, or at least his chief of campaign staff, is rueing dropping out of the race. He could have been the conpromise canidate at a brokered convention. I doubt that Hillary or Obama will serve with each other. The ego's are just too inflated at this point in time. Nobody really wants to be VP anyway unless they can see a route to the presidency through it. Cheney being the exception. But then he's a highly principled man, a burden that none of the current crop of Dem's bears.

Why should McCain do anything? He should just lay low in the Senate or take as much vacation time as he can. One of the first rules of politics is that, when your opponent is busy destroying himself-don't get in his way.

Sail this may the election year where that doesn't matter. To break both color and gender in a election process for the highest political podium one can achieve..think about it for a second... the "Change" being decorated by both a racially and gendered colored ticket? Doesn't matter whom takes the top billet - its a hard ticket to beat if they can wrap it up and take on the Republicans.. which is the issue now - 6 months out - no one knows who is running against whom and usually by this time we have the complete teams to analyze...

Don't rule it out - yeah I agree it is a hard pill to swallow but - for the chance of making history?

Things will happen...

It's not really considered historical if you don't win in the end. Most people know that Gerry Ferraro was the first woman on a presidential ticket but it's almost as signifcant as the fact that Gus Hall ran for president more than any other canidate ever.

It probably matters little as McCain who should be well behind in a time of unpopular Republicans is more than holding his own. The Dems have already lost the '08 presidential election, they're just dead men walking.

Heck, it's so bad and depressing to be a Dem right now that sck5 has given up on this thread. (g)
