We KNOW one thing for certain. It isn't about what has happened in the past, that motivates the jihadists, it IS the simple fact that we are infidels in their eyes, non-believers in their religion, that is behind their desire to either subjugate us to their beliefs, or annihilate us from the face of the earth.
It not about Colonial occupation, nor any other percieved injustice, it about being non-believers. HOW many times do they have to say it, before folks like you start believing them? You CAN NOT negotiate with someone who only offers to accept your total surrender or your death.

Among the intellectually astute there's nothing worth dieing for. So their confusion regarding people who are willing to die in pursuit of their concept of jihad produces cognitive dissonance. That they then come up with hare-brained ideas like generational occupation, implying generational guilt, is a secondary issue to their intellectual blindness.

and there is the historical ignorance again. Your dad and grandpa DID do something to them. That doesnt mean they are right or that we give up. But pretending that they came to their attitudes out of nowhere is just plain silly.
Do you REALLY think all 1.2 billion Muslims think the same way the crazy fringe elements do? That is like imagining all Americans think like Timothy McVeigh. It is ridiculous.
And you want to kill them all? That is just bigotry.

Ha. Sailaway thinks that "know your enemy" is the same as "generational guilt". Hey thats a stretch, even for you sway.
You guys are so afraid of the history because you imagine it is somehow a justification for terrorism? That is some kind of twisted logic that requires ignorance to know who your enemy is.

sck5 - Do you EVER bother to actually read what you reply to? And if so, do you simply ignore it, or just can't comprehend it? Jihad is a Holy War, and has nothing to do with anything other than the triumph of Islam over all and any non-believers. It's no more complicated than that, and it isn't open to compromise in any way. When faced with an implacable enemy, you have two choices, you either surrender to them, or defeat them. PERIOD.

This was a survey done last year and one may assume that sentiments run hgher against us in places like IRAN...but in this survey of 4 Muslim countries, between 5 and 15% of respondents felt terror attacks were strongly or simply justified to achieve political goals...with another bunch somewhat sympathetic. Using the low figure of 5% of your 1.3 billion Muslims...that is 65 MILLION Muslims who want to kill us. I believe the middle eastern number would be a higher % from the demonstrations in the streets.
Add another Billion that won't speak out against their fellow Muslims and you have an entire religion hijacked. The problem is not "a few fanatics".

Another thing I don't get . . . . . . . the way Liberals disrespect others.
I used to say "President Carter' and "President Clinton". Hearing liberals say "Bush" and as CNN say's "Mr. Bush" as to not recognize him as PRESIDENT really gets my neck hairs on end. Typical disrespect by liberals.

I wasn't around much when gramps was an active member of the "lets eff with those sand crawlers" league, but I'm pretty sure he was a bit too busy working for the NYCentral railroad, and running a dairy farm to care too much.
I was around for the last 35 yrs of the ol' mans life and the closest that I know he got to the middle east was to pump diesel into the John Deere to run that same dairy...
I know I haven't pissed any off this week, unless I cut a couple of 'em off on I95 so that arguement really doesn't wash many dishes.
