Actually, they think mankind is a mistake. But of course, they don't stop to realize that means them as well.

The Libertarians insist upon abolishing the IRS and income tax immediately which I agree with, but think it's a bit too ambitious.

But... Maybe if Hillary wins, I can buy an Alden 50-CC with welfare vouchers.

Neises...I like that Constitutionalist definition. I leave the religious right issues behind me too when I say I'm a conservative...though I do think there are reasonable positions to take on abortion, gay-rights, school prayer etc. that fall somewhere between what activists on both sides of those issues would like.
The Libertarians bother me with their open borders stance and abolishment of public schools (or the demand for parents to school their children) among other things but a lot of what they think is appealing.

One of the unfortunate facts of American politics, is that too many people vote party over the individual, and many do so, only because it is what they grew up with. Also, people have a tendancy to vote on emotion, rather than logic. The Dems and Reps of 1950 are not the Dems and Reps of 2006. To vote one party over the other, simply because of what they once were is rather foolish, in my opinion.

Another unfortunate fact of American politics is that once in power, politicans are reluctant to give up that power. That is a large part of all the "loophole" legislation that gets proposed, and too often passed. Be it the tax code, minimum wage, insurance, ad nasueaum.

The third unfortunate, in this sad trilogy, is that because of the above, it isn't going to get fixed.

Even though the US has short comings... let's also appreciate the good!

Jody - having been around Giu for a while now, I think I can assure you, the comment wasn't meant in disrespect to the country, but to the politicans that try to run it. And, unfortunately, the only ideas they do anything about generally match the comment.

Thanks for explaining that to Gui...

Sorry PB but that just makes too much sense. If you are not careful your memeberships of the RWW Society will be withdrawn. (Memo to self - you just agreed with PB. Expect a severe thumping at the next meeting of the BHL Club.)

Ahhh, but you see, I have a distinct antipathy towards boxes, fences, or any other limiting devices. The only association I aspire to, is that of my fellow cruisers.
