yes, the speech said not very much but said it well. quite an improvement over W who struggles to put two sentences together. Something tells me you guys arent going to vote for Obama. But something also tells me most of the people arent going to vote for McCain. He looked positively petulant whining about Obama giving speeches in Europe (after McCain did exactly that in Canada and Latin America) but he looked ridiculous arriving in grocery stores and trying to find people to talk to. He has got to have some of the most incompetent campaign people ever - even I know McCain is a better man than he has looked for the past week or so.

any bets on how long it takes McCain to get some new campaign staff people? He sure as hell needs them (not that it will do him any good in the end)

Now there's a qualification for President ....... talking pretty, while saying nothing.

Given Obama's rock star treatment, McCain's ineptness, and one has to wonder why Obama isn't about 20 points up at this point. Why, in fact, McCain has actually gained ground.

This may well end up being what is remembered most about Obama's "non-political" overseas trip.

“It is not going to be a political speech,” said a senior foreign policy adviser, who spoke to reporters on background. “When the president of the United States goes and gives a speech, it is not a political speech or a political rally.

“But he is not president of the United States,” a reporter reminded the adviser.

No doubt, the citizens of Peoria are all agog at the chance to vote for the "citizen of the world". One who offers to correct all the bad things that America is responsible for. The one who promises to remake the world.

Apparently, the people of Peoria are going to do exactly that. According to pollster.com Obama is winning Illinois by double digits.

W is a lousy speaker.

Everything he says sounds like he learned it in kindergarten.

Obama makes a pretty good hash of it when he speaks extemporaneously as well. The recent speech where he said that Israel was a good friend to Israel and that Israel would remain a good friend being an example. RWR spoiled us for pols with the capability to speak off the cuff, although I'd have to say that Barney Frank is pretty damn good at it. Obama has a rough time of it though; mostly because much of what is being discussed wasn't something he thought about a year ago. Let's face it, he was one of the least experienced candidates for Senator as well and he's on a steep learning curve.

Rags, you have to remember that sck5 doesn't care what Obama's POV is. And evidently, he is unfamiliar with the use of Peoria as a mythical bellweather as well.

Yes, Obama's speaking problem is different than Bush's ... Obama sounds really great but then when he's done talking you are left wondering what it was, exactly, that he actually said ...

It is fun to listen to Obama though, it is sort of like watching puffy white clouds on a summer's day.

ROTFLMAO!

That's good, Windy, very good. And pretty much the truth as well.
