Since the NFL starts in earnest this week, perhaps a football analogy is in order. On the one hand we have someone who has been a quarterback, and on the other hand we have someone who has been a lineman. Seems to me you want the quarterback calling the plays, not the offensive tackle.

A quarterback? Well since baseball season still isnt over here is another analogy

Would you rather have as your manager someone who just made it to the minor leagues less than two years ago or someone who has been playing in the majors their whole life?

Executive experience
Obama: Makes executive decisions every day that affect the lives of his campaign staff and a vast crowd of traveling journalists
Palin:Makes executive decisions every day that affect the lives of 500,000 people in her state, and that impact crucial issues of national economic interest such as the supply and cost of energy to the United States.- Gerald Baker, Times of London

I'd probably go with the new kid who is currently hitting home runs than the old guy who has ridden the bench and was just barely good enough to stay on the team for all those years. What good is years of experience if you're always wrong?

how come you are comparing Palin to Obama? I was referring to the guy the Dems picked as VP and his name is Biden. He has lots of experience.

rtclt - If you mean Biden, he has been more than good enough to "barely hold" his seat. They love him in Delaware. He has been chair or ranking member of the Foreign relations committee for years - nobody seriously doubts his competence. As I said about Cheney, even if you hate him you have to admit he has qualifications.

As for Obama and McCain, if you want 4 more years with a guy who voted with Bush more than 90% of the time then go ahead and vote for him. But you will be in the minority

Repubs out there

Palin is a lightweight. In your heart of hearts you know it. If you dont know it then you really need to listen to her talk about international affairs. If you are honest with yourself you will be a bit nervous about her becoming President of the US.

Maybe she would be competent enough in a few years, but at the moment she just doesnt have anything to recommend her beyond female equipment and a down the line adherence to right wing views. Maybe that is enough for you, but what I would have hoped is that the Repubs could find SOMEONE who was both conservative and experienced. Such people exist and we all know it. If McCain wins we will all wish he had picked someone who was up to the job.

Sarah Palin is a Hypocrite

She says she is anti abortion and would not give, e.g. my daughter a choice if she wanted to have an abortion

For her OWN daughter however, things are different:

"We're proud of Bristol's decision to have her baby," she and her husband said in a statement.

If it was a decision that Bristol was allowed to make then it is obvious that Bristol had the CHOICE to make a different decision. So Palin is FOR choice when it comes to her OWN kid but AGAINST it for the rest of us.

What a hypocrite.

Ummm...sck5...perhaps you did not realize that pregnant minors have the RIGHT to an abortion without parental consent. So her kid had the right to decide and Palin is proud that she made the decision she did..though I am sure she disagrees with the notion that minors living at home SHOULD have THIS right since she disagrees with anyone having a right to an abortion.
No hypocrisy there...though I think that a measure of her quality as a parent can be found in the decision her daughter made.
Another PLUS for Palin.

Cam your point is well taken. But would you be telling us it was evidence of good parenting if a Dem had a pregnant teenage daughter?

Cam, the measure of her quality of her parenting can be found that her daughter had to make the decision in the first place. Remember she is an abstence advocate and does not tolerate other peoples children having teenage sex. As Repubs are asking on the convention floor, what else does she have to hide? There is also the story, which started before the nomination, that she tried to influence the police department to fire her ex-brother-in-law.
