"You Can Put Lipstick on a Pig, But It's Still a Pig"
All class isn't he?
Sean Hannity beat you to the punch in taking that one out of context. If you listened to the whole quote, you know that he wasn't talking about Palin.
Not to mention he's used it before.
Quote:
"I think that both General Petraeus and Ambassador Crocker are capable people who have been given an impossible assignment. George Bush has given a mission to General Petraeus, and he has done his best to try to figure out how to put lipstick on a pig." -- Obama, 9/2007
But go ahead, he should have expected this to happen.
Mitch...here is a link to the video you wanted along with the contextual story. Clearly a flub but rather funny given all the blog chatter and false accusations. See...I can be reasonable! Oops! Obama says 'my Muslim faith' :: CHICAGO SUN-TIMES :: Barack Obama
I think the pig with lipstick after Sarahs's Pit Bull with lipstick is much more problematic in a PR sense...really bad choice of words. None of this crap should matter.
"John McCain says he's about change too. And so I guess his whole angle is 'watch out George Bush... except for economic policy, healthcare policy, tax policy, education policy, foreign policy, and Karl Rove-style politics, we're really going to shake things up in Washington'.
That's not change, that's just calling something.. the same thing something different. But you know, you can.. you know, you can put lipstick on a pig... it's still a pig. You can wrap an old fish in a piece of paper called change. It's still gonna stink.
McCain himself used the exact same phrase to describe Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's health care plan just last year. "I think they put some lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig," McCain said in October of 2007, describing Clinton's universal health care plan when she was running in the Democratic primary. He also, in February 2007, used the phrase to describe conflict over a resolution on the Iraq War. "It gets down to whether you support what is being done in this new strategy or you don't," McCain said at the time. "You can put lipstick on a pig, [but] it's still a pig, in my view."
"You can put lipstick on a pig. It's still a pig," Obama went on, and the crowd erupted into shrieks, whoops and cheers. "You can wrap an old fish in a piece of paper and call it change. It's still going to stink, after eight years. We've had enough of the same old thing."
Lipstick.
Pig.
Which candidate for national office has likened herself to a pit bull with lipstick?
That would be Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.
Sounds like a shot at Palin to me
