One thing to keep in mind about the Clinton economy is the unique period of history in which it occurred. It's little noted that with the Cold War ended, and no apparent conflicts in sight, it was a time of unprecedented changes in priorities. A period in time unlike the previous 50 years, and unlike the time since.

Mere numbers are but a one dimensional look, when devoid of the context surrounding them.

Here's a simple question for the Obama supporters. What in his record shows he will live up to the promises he makes? (aside from spending more money)

The usual response, but not unexpected.

Because he record shows he has done the things he proposes. He has sought to work in a bi-partisan manner, he has taken no earmarks. He has stood up for what he believes, even if it wasn't to his political advantage. Things Obama preaches, but are counter to what lttle record he has.

Did you know that Palin was actually 100% for the "bridge to no where" and actively sought support for it, until she saw the writing on the wall that it wasn't going to happen. Then she jumped sides and did everything to spin the issue so she looked good as possible. In the end she got every dime of that pot of money for other projects, which she gladly accepted.

Palin also fired a librarian who said she would not ban books from her library. This ended up causing an uproar and the city rehired the librarian against Palin's wishes.

At least she changed her vote. Can't be said for Obama and Biden.

Sorry Steve, she did not fire the librarian, and put any spin you want on the Bridge, she did say no. Aside from which, what does that have to do with your question about McCain?

Why it has nothing to do with the question. Am I limited to making a single point here? The point of my question was to show that the original question was hollow and could be made for either side.

The logic the Republicans will keep taxes lower, and more importantly *spend less money* in government than Democrats is overly simplistic and is not reflected in history. I want to see a balanced budget because I don't want my kids to pay the Bushs' mistakes. Unfortunately it looks like my grandkids will be paying for them too.

The current problem with our political system is that people just vote for their party like they root for their sports team. It doesn't matter who the players are or what the policies are or how they did last term, no real thought goes into it. It much more a game of making a villain out of the other side than putting brain power into the issues at hand. You see it here as personal attacks rather then people debating issues.
