Gee phallo, guess I missed where they asked Obama if it was conceited of him to run for president, or if he had enough experience for the job. But you're right, the only biased media is Fox, all the rest are totally objective. Especially MSNBC. No bias there.

Funny, I can get all kinds of reasons why Palin shouldn't be VP, but no one yet has come up with a good reason for Obama to be President. Nothing but wishes and dreams, without any reason to believe he can make them come true. Ya gotta love intelligent voters, which they all must be, since the NYT says anybody voting for McCain is stupid.

maybe she should and maybe she shouldnt but until she has undergone the detailed questioning by a variety of independent people that all the other candidates have in the 84,000 debates, press conferences, etc. we wont know. It is how the various candidates handle themselves under that kind of intense questioning and pressure that makes them show that they know their stuff.

Given that, it would be a very worrying thing if they continue to shield Palin from any real exposure to the press (one interview is just a start) because that would indicate that HER OWN HANDLERS worry about whether she is up to it or not.

And so, in answer to PB's question above, the reason to vote for Obama is the answers he has given to the thousands of questions from reporters, fellow debaters, citizens, etc. It also doesnt hurt that he was the number one student in his Harvard Law class and that he taught constitutional law at one of the top law schools in the country. But mainly it is how he has handled himself through the ridiculously long campaign.

In our politics you dont get credibility with most people just because someone picked you. You have to earn it all by yourself. That takes a little while so I am willing to give her the rope to either hang herself or her critics - stay tuned....

Here is a thought for ALL of the candidates -

I have a son approaching military age. His opinion, which I support, is that if he is told they need him he will go.

Would any of you want to see YOUR son die for the territorial integrity of South Ossetia? Palin said she thought Georgia should be part of NATO whi8ch would mean that is what we would do. Someone else said all the candidates support that - I dont know if that is true or not but that is what I heard.

They have to be kidding. I sure as hell dont want to give my son for some place in the middle of nowhere that means nothing to any of us. Good luck even finding it on a map. Double good luck convincing me or any other American that South Ossetia is worth a war with Russia.

Does South Ossetia have WMD's? Anthrax? Missiles? Is the South Ossetian army threatening us? Are they out of their minds?

So your son is saying that if he's drafted he'll go. As opposed to hiding out in Canada? Don't worry, There's no need for a draft. There are plenty of Republican sons and daughters who are more than happy to defend our conutry, and our allies interests as well.

While I would never want any of our service men and women to be put in harms way, there are times that it is necessary. Just think of what kind of world we would live in if we had chosen not to support our european allies in WW2. Germany was not directly threatening us, but I've not met anyone who thought the decision to get involved (to the tune of many, many thousands of US lives) was a bad one.

Not surprising, Republicans outnumber Democrats 2:1 with children in war zones.

Oh spare me your pretension that Republicans are somehow more patriotic than Dems.

If you dont think about whether it is a good idea to do things like defend South Ossetia then you are not doing your duty as an informed citizen. That in no way conflicts with the military's duty to salute and get the job done. In our democracy the military reports to the civilian government and the civilian government reports to the voters. Thats you and me so it is a perfectly legitimate question for all of us.

Chamberlin felt the same way about Czechoslovakia. A lot of good that did him.
Just in case you missed the point. It ain't about Ossetia...it is about Putin and Russia and that IS a security interest of ours.

Funny thing about those soldiers in the war zone itself - they seem to turn into Dems!

So if we dont defend south ossetia we get a world war?

Give me a break.

but fair enough to say that it is about russia. but dont worry, bush looked into Putin's eyes and is in touch with his soul. (and a mighty cold soul it is, judging from those cold fish eyes)

No one is saying that we would get a world war. When we did have 2 world wars, they didn't start by invading 10 countries at once. Better to have the bad guys thinking twice about what they're doing.
