I didn't hear him say that (not that it isn't true), I heard him say that Republicans have more people in the military, which is true.

Edit, I removed part of this post.

OK...you tell me which countries Russia CAN invade without a response by us. Ukraine? Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Poland, Bulgaria, Roumania, Czech Rep., Slovenia, Slovakia? After all NONE of these are of strategic interest to us and they all used to be under Russian proxy rule. Some of those a little too close for comfort? Maybe some of the 'stans would be a better choice.

I guarantee when Putin looks in McCains eyes he will see a dangerous man, not to be messed with. I like that. McCain already said that he looked in Putin's eyes and saw KGB. I like that too.

And so, in answer to PB's question above, the reason to vote for Obama is the answers he has given to the thousands of questions from reporters, fellow debaters, citizens, etc. It also doesnt hurt that he was the number one student in his Harvard Law class and that he taught constitutional law at one of the top law schools in the country.
And yet he came down on the wrong side of the decision on the 2nd in Washington D.C. So either he didn't understand the constitution, or he understood it but was willing to deny the citizens of D.C. their rights.

Smart doesn't equal leadership.

Funny, I can get all kinds of reasons why Palin shouldn't be VP, but no one yet has come up with a good reason for Obama to be President. Nothing but wishes and dreams, without any reason to believe he can make them come true. Ya gotta love intelligent voters, which they all must be, since the NYT says anybody voting for McCain is stupid.
Did you even view both interviews? Obama June 4, McCain June 5? You can't expect any non-delusional person to believe that Gibson was biased towards one of those interviewees. Someone else, not me, took those those interviews, erased McCain's, pasted in Palin's, and started crying "bias". Give me a break.

Besides, I thought Palin was a feisty pitbull with lipstick. Shouldn't she be able to handle Gibson?

She did handle Gibson. The POINT was media bias against HER. ...and it is back-firing into a big time backlash which the polls are showing so the Dems and the Lib media are self destructing again. Keep picking on the "girl"!! See how that plays out.

Like I said sck5, a reason besides words. You know, like something he actually has done that would make those words believable. Something he's done where he has stood up and taken a stand.

As I've said before, what little record he has, says he is nothing more than just another liberal, with the same old solutions that Europe tried and decided didn't work. But, by all means, let's try them here. He has fine rhetoric, but his actions don't back it up, plain and simple.

They have to be kidding. I sure as hell dont want to give my son for some place in the middle of nowhere that means nothing to any of us. Good luck even finding it on a map. Double good luck convincing me or any other American that South Ossetia is worth a war with Russia.

Does South Ossetia have WMD's? Anthrax? Missiles? Is the South Ossetian army threatening us? Are they out of their minds?

You know what really chaps my patootie?

We have a non-conscript service. If you decide to join the military, its on a 100% volunteer basis. If you decide to volunteer, one of the basic concepts is that you do what the hell you're told to do and when to do it. period. That concept keeps more of 'em alive.
(unless they want you to do something illegal, immoral, or fattening).

Did they sign up because they look good in camo?

Did you think they trained 'em to shoot a rifle for their health? (kinda, sorta, yea). Theres a better than even chance that if you join a branch, some moron is going to try to shoot at you, so, you'd better be able to shoot back, not hand 'em a latte and want to sit with them and hug it out.

C'mon, you don't get to pick and chose what conflict you kid goes into.

To suggest so, in my opinion, degrades and minimizes the sacrifice these people chose to give you and me.

Now, back to the "point" if its valid.
The conflict that has erupted in the Caucasus has set alarm bells ringing because of Georgia's pivotal role in the global energy market.
Georgia has no significant oil or gas reserves of its own but it is a key transit point for oil from the Caspian and central Asia destined for Europe and the US.
Crucially, it is the only practical route from this increasingly important producer region that avoids both Russia and Iran. The 1,770km (1,100 miles) Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline, which entered service only last year, pumps up to 1 million barrels of oil per day from Baku in Azerbaijan to Yumurtalik, Turkey, where it is loaded on to supertankers for delivery to Europe and the US. Around 249km of the route passes through Georgia, with parts running only 55km from South.

control that, and oops, out go the lights anytime you want.
Still think it "means nothing to any of us?"

It seems we agree on one thing - there ought to be universal national service. If everyone (EVERYONE) had skin in the game we would be a lot more thoughtful about when and where we used our military - I am no pacifist but thoughtfulness about it is a very good thing.
