I can't believe that McCain didn't take the chance to hammer home all of the points brought up in the video that cam posted. It's easy to trace the roots of the mortgage crisis, but why doesn't he do it, and make Obama explain himself and his buddies? And why wouldn't he show how he and a few other repubs tried to fix it before it got too broken?
He could have hit a home run in the economics with this one, then had Obama running for cover in the foreign affairs portion.
Wrong kind of format to make that kind of point John. The video works, because you can see the various things. He couldn't have made that kind of point just talking.

US27...I agree he could have been much stronger on those points and had the capacity to do it without my video to reinforce it. BUT...I think something else was going on. I think McCain really views this as a crisis and feels that turning it into a partisan fight of pointing fingers about the past would work against getting a settlement...and that he chose a course of action that was more patriotic than political. Maybe after there is a settlement he will be more forceful in the next debate.
Note that I do not agree with the settlement and think he would be better off supporting the House Republicans....just trying to explain why he may have consciously taken a different strategy for the debate.
I think that point will be better made after they pass whatever bailout they come up with.

Good point about the past cam. I thought he used that well about Iraq. He talked about moving forward, Obama about looking back.

One thing I'm seeing in the commentary is that the right seems more willing to admit Obama didn't hurt himself, while the MSM sounds like McCain not only lost the debate, but the election as well. Not surprising, as the MSM have left no doubt they have invested what credibility they had left in Obama.
