More questions about McCain's temperment.

So all remains as was.

In the debate John McCain might have shot himself in the foot. He stated that he'd close down everything in government except for Military, Veterans benefits, and entitlements. I think this statement might cost him support in some states big time as Florida, Texas and Alabama are rather fond of NASA. Florida is a battleground state.
We'll have to see what the polls say on Monday.

Do you listen to anything? He said he would freeze spending, not shut it down.

You make passable sense for about two posts and then you lapse into some blatantly BS propaganda that reveals either a lack of acquaintance with the facts or a deliberate desire to mislead by lying. Which is it?
As the Beezer notes, McCain has advocated a freeze on government spending, not a shut-down of the government, and if you're capable of accepting the facts of what he said it might be marginally interesting in hearing your thoughts on such a proposal. Or do you think that government spending, at it's current levels, is just ducky?

Anybody that believes spending will go down with Obama, really should visit his website and learn how he will spend us into prosperity.

For those of you who like to characterize me as a kool-aid drinker, I offer the following that I have sent out to over 2 dozen columnists as well as the RNC, McCain and Palin.
Quote:
I think it has become time to suggest Mr Bush formally join the Democratic Party. While I do support his views on the problem of terrorism, he is otherwise indistinguishable from a Liberal Democrat and has done more than any other person to destroy the Conservative movement.
Though Republicans have a lot to answer for in abetting the drunken splurge of spending during the Bush Administration by abandoning the principles for which we elected them, we can no longer afford leaders who are anything less than 100% committed not just to believing in those principles, but governing by them as well. Conservatives can no longer allow themselves to be part of socialist solutions to the governance of the country. It's a lesson we already have learned once, we shouldn't have to learn it again. We can't win playing the liberal's game, it's time we quit trying to.
Respectfully,
John C xxxxx

It would seem yes and no, tdw.
They needed enough votes to pass it, 1/3rd of the Republicans supported it, about 2/3rds of the Democrats, which would have been enough. What they say is that about 25 (?) Republicans changed their mind at the last minute because the Democrat leader went on an anti-Republican rant when bringing things to a vote and they just said forget it and had a rebellion against their own party leaders. That's one version of what happened.
Another version of what happened was that Republicans never were on board to begin with and sabotaging the vote was a means to an end, the end being to kill the bill. Basically let them think they have enough votes, bring it to the floor, then oops! Note enough votes! Window of opportunity gone! So sorry!
Yet another version is that Democrats could have passed it if they could get their own members to vote for it, but they don't want to do that because then it looks like Democrats were the ones behind spending 700b$us, so they won't do it unless Republicans are willing to take the fall too.
The real truth, I believe, is this - we are a few weeks away from an important election and everyone of these people is up for re-election. They are all campaigning, and this piece of crap bill has no public support, some say that the feedback is 30 to 1 against it. So I think they all chickened out at the last minute when they started getting lots of calls about it. The evidence of this is that the people who support the bill are about even in states where the election isn't close, but about 3 to 1 against the bill in states where the elections are tight, meaning that the Democrat or Republican in question has to worry much more about what their folks back home think or they won't get elected.

TDW, not really, it was the American tax payers who voted it down, it just happened the the elected officals in both parties were listening, some cause they got it, others cause they are up for relection, either way, we dodged a bullet........for now
