Sway, you didn't answer my question. I, however, will answer yours.

Washington, Lincoln, Roosevelt, Truman and Reagan could offer coherent answers when asked simple questions.

Do some more research sck, this isn't the first time ACORN has been investigated. There have been indictments and convictions going back to at least 2004.

Yup. Right about the time Bush's attorney scandal really got going. They required them to prosecute dems for vote fraud whether it was bogus or not. If they refused they got dismissed. This is all documented and there is even a special prosecutor looking into indictments right now. Google David Iglesias to get more details. He was canned from his job for refusing to do politically motivated prosecutions.

Voter fraud is a made up issue. There is no evidence it has ever been an important factor in any election.

None.

ACORN provided this response to the raid:

ACORN Statement from Bertha Lewis, Interim Chief Organizer, on Incident in Las Vegas:

"Over the past year, ACORN has worked hard to help over 80,000 people in Clark County register to vote. As part of our nonpartisan voter registration program, we have review all the applications submitted by our canvassers. When we have identified suspicious applications, we have separated them out and flagged them for election officials. We have zero tolerance for fraudulent registrations. We immediately dismiss employees we suspect of submitting fraudulent registrations.

For the past 10 months, any time ACORN has identified a potentially fraudulent application, we turn that application into election officials separately and offer to provide election officials with the information they would need to pursue an investigation or prosecution of the individual.

Election officials routinely ignored this information and failed to act. In early July, ACORN asked to meet with election officials to express our concerns that they were not acting on information ACORN had presented to them. ACORN met with Clark County elections officials and a representative of the Secretary of State on July 17th. ACORN pleaded with them to take our concerns about fraudulent applications seriously. One week later, elections officials asked us to provide them with a second copy of what we had previously provided to them. ACORN responded by giving election officials copies of 46 "problem application packages," which involved 33 former canvassers.

On September 23, ACORN had received a subpoena dated September 19th requesting information on 15 employees, all of whom had been included in the packages we had previously submitted to election officials. ACORN provided our personnel records on these 15 employees on September 29.

Today's raid by the Secretary of State's Office is a stunt that serves no useful purpose other than discredit our work registering Nevadans and distracting us from the important work ahead of getting every eligible voter to the polls."

Smells like a set-up to me, though why Democratic Secretary of State Ross Miller would go along with it is not immediately clear. Unless ACORN is lying (presumably they have documentation to back up their information, including correspondence with the SoS's office), they made every good faith effort to work with the state to validate every registration. The state refused those efforts, only to turn around now and accuse the organization of attempting to perpetrate voter fraud? They've also been completely forthcoming in providing any information requested by the state, so why did the state feel compelled to raid their office? It just doesn't make sense.

Sck,
It wasn't 46 voters, it was and is 46 packages - each of which has many many names in it.

Always willing to run down an unrelated alley, aren't ya sck? Bush fires 6 attorneys, he gets in trouble. Clinton fires all 96 and all we hear is "Yawn". Your attempts at equivalance only show you have no other means of rebuttal.

ACORN has made numerous vows to clean up their act, and yet, this stuff keeps happening. There's like 5 or 6 different states that have them under investigation at this time.

The whole point is though, why does Obama associate with so many people he ends up denouncing? One or two, yeah, but the list just gets longer.

By all means, vote for the guy sck. Despite the fact you can't even name anything he's accomplished that gives any credence to him putting any of his plans in action. I know I'm really looking forward to my tax cut from him ...... even though I don't pay any taxes. Just like 35% of the rest of the population. Of course, when he raises taxes on business, then I'll get to pay those for them.

Oh, and by the way, as far as ACORN's statement goes, have you ever heard of anyone not claiming they were innocent?

Dudes,

Hope you don't mind too much if a non-citizen (just a legal alien) chimes in:

Here's my prediction:

It's DONE.

Obama will be President come Jan 2009.

(disclaimer: prediction has got nothing to do with my political preferences)

I've got news for you John, and you especially SCK.

Tax hikes for the wealthy (and I'm not on Obama's hit list, just close enough to know I will be eventually) also get passed down to the 'little guy' in terms of higher prices.

You see, it's all related.

Joe HighWage isn't going to take a reduction in take home well, he's going to tell Mr. Employer to hike the salary to compensate, and Mr. Employer is going to do just that because Joe Highwage brings in the money for the company.
Then Mr. Employer is going to hike the price of his goods or services to compensate.

Works just like minimum wage hikes, or any other costs of doing business going up.

And that my friends is why the rich get richer, at least on the books, and why the tax the wealthy plan or any tax hike plan is just a vicious circle of stupid.

Of course he did. All new presidents ask for the resignations of all and pass out the jobs as they see fit. Bush passed them out to Repubs when he got in but some of them were honest and wouldnt play ball with politically motivated prosecutions and so got fired.

Ask yourself, PB, why BUSH'S OWN JUSTICE DEPT is investigating them? Could it be because the evidence is too obvious to ignore?
