Sorry, being a realist, all I see is the inherent dichotomy between limited revenue and unlimited expenditure. Revenue being something that requires creation, whilst the subsequent expenditures require only good intentions. As I recall, Orwell summed that idea up pretty well in Animal Farm.

Sway - it also won in Florida (where it had to top 60%) and Arizona, where it lost previously. It's now 30 for 30.

It seems it is blacks and latinoes that put the gay marriage bans over the top. And according to several reports, are getting a Klan-like response from white homosexuals. Evidently, we have finally found the racists we've been hearing about.
Obama has a lot of people to please, and very little in the way of means, to do so. And while failure to provide all he has promised, will not change the core groups within the Dems, as they don't really have anywhere else to go, it may well dampen their enthusiasm and efforts in the future. That his first press conference came across more as a continuation of the campaign, than as a step ahead, may well give many, a foreboding sense of buyer's remorse before he's even inaugerated.

Dont you all worry about the gay people. The bigots will lose that one in the end since young people by and large dont feel threatened by gay marriage and dont care who other people have sex with. As the older generation dies off and we are left with fewer and fewer people who dont realize that they know lots of gay people, bans like Prop 8 in California will get voted down.
I am still puzzled why people like to spend so much time thinking about gay people having sex. When I think about sex I am myself always the star of the fantasy and the other person is always a woman.

Have to agree with SCK...I think that sooner or later the "gay marriage scare" will fall into the dust bin and the bans will cease...as he said the younger generations by and large care about much more important issues than vacuous arguments about what constitutes marriage...the republicans would be wise to drop these campaigns from their platform if they want to see the reins of the country again in the next quarter -century

It isn't about sex sck, it's about marriage. Seems to me, marriage and sex have long lost any relationship to each other. Prop 8 wasn't about sex. Nor were the measures in Florida or Arizona, or, any of the other 27 measures.
There's nothing in any of them that is inimical to homosexuality. Nothing that attempts to criminalize homosexuality, or confer any other punishment for the practice of homosexuality. They are, only about maintaining the traditional definition of marriage as existing between a man and woman.
They do not attempt to withhold any rights that might be inherent in marriage, that aren't addressed by laws covering civil unions. Nor do they attempt to stigmatize homosexual unions.
Evidently, that a majority of people approve of maintaining this traditional definition, should be ignored, by your thinking.
edit: Or perhaps I should have asked, what part of the democratic process are you against?

Sck5 attempts to reframe the debate. It's not about people feeling threatened by or about homosexuality or about homosexual sex. It's about a cultural institution that serves as a bedrock of western society. Homosexuals are unable to participate in that institution by definition.

Should a church or synagog be required to perform gay mariages even if they oppose it?
