It's going to be interesting watching the One, who sought to be everything to everybody, become not much of anything to not much of anybody.
Unfortunately, speeches are not going to solve any problems. Another autobiography won't fix anything. (Although I have figured out this two autobiographies by age 45 thing .... it's not like he was doing anything else.) Setting up yet another website won't cure any ills. Nor will being cool address any of the issues we face.
After almost 2 years of "Change we can believe in" and "The audacity of hope", we're pretty much left with hoping he doesn't screw things up too bad.
But, there is a bright side. After all, in 4 years as a Senator, he spent most of his time running for President, even though he said he wasn't going to. So maybe by this time next year, he'll be working on being Secretary General of the UN.

And there you have a big complaint I have with the Republican party. They have lots and lots of smart and competent people. Would it have killed them to pick one of THEM instead of a moronic beauty pageant runner up? It really doesnt speak well for McCain that he picked her - But that is all history now. Talk to me in 4 years and I will bet you a crab dinner at the boat show that Palin not only isnt the nominee but that she made a fool of herself more than once in the debates running up to it (if she even dares to appear in such an uncontrolled setting)

Where do you get your news, the National Enquirer? (g)
Spitzer was a horse's ass when he was the NY State Attorney General. He delegated himself federal powers just because Wall Street resides in NY and then he went on a corporate witch hunt. On the other hand, the citizens of Alaska elected a woman with a history of probity and a record of capability in dealing with the largest, most wealthy corporations in America. And she's widely regarded as having done very well by the people of Alaska in those dealings. And Spitzer's record is what?
Just because Palin is a babe means you are allowed to question and demean her accomplishments? Does a woman have to be a weak-chinned moose butt like Hillary for you to take her seriously? You're showing a bit of unbecoming sexism there, don't you think? I thought your wife was clearing your posts? (g)

Here's the data that backs up the video above. The 12 questions asked of Obama supporters by Zogby International. Notice how the overwhelming number got the answer right for "Which candidate could not say how many houses they own?", "Which candidate wore clothes that their political party reportedly spent $150,000 on?", and "Which candidate currently has a pregnant teenage daughter?" and attributed "Which candidate said they could see Russia from their house?" to Palin. More than half of them got it wrong on almost every other question, except the wealth redistribution question. If the MSM hadn't spent so much time crucifying Joe the Plumber, I doubt they would have gotten that one right. Most of the questions that were derogatory toward The One, his supporters were not sure of. This is clearly a case of the MSM under reporting stories that did not put Obama in a good light, and hammering on anything that would demean McCain/Palin, especially Palin.

You have to remember John, most Obama voters were voting for something new. For change and hope. Critical assessment was not only unnecessary, but unwanted. When you're voting for sound bites and slogans, there's no need to question, only believe.

so we arent allowed to say that a hot women is stupid or is it that no hot women are stupid? you are just trying to call me sexist for noticing that Sarah Palin is clueless about large areas of knowledge that most folks take for granted. nice try, but it is sexist to pretend NOT to notice how ignorant she is just because she is hot (and she IS hot - thats why she was a beauty pageant runner up).
There is a reason she refused to given even one single press conference while running for VP. She was afraid of questions she didnt know the anser to. Not even Dan Quayle, the previous most famously clueless candidate for VP did that. I stand by my original statement - She is scarily ignorant and the Republicans insult all of us by picking someone like this rather than any of the obviously competent repubs out there. I am not alone in thinking this - quite a few republicans agree with that assessment.

Are you telling us that 53% of the population is ignorant? I think it is more likely that they just dont agree with YOU and that there is the same proportion of stupid and ignorant people among Dems as there are among Repubs.
Otherwise, if Repubs are so smart, how come they made such a mess of the country before they got voted out of office?

Well sck, you certainly seem to be quite comfortable with stereotyping and sexism (unless it's about your idol). But then, considering you voted for a motivational speaker for President, that's not too surprising.
You really should get your facts straight though. Over the last month of the campaign, Palin was the ONLY ONE giving press conferences, and though you probably meant interviews, she gave plenty of them as well.
And, pray tell, what is this large body of common knowledge she's unfamiliar with? Or are you confusing that with the disproven hoaxes? Like not knowing Africa was a continent? Or the Tina Fey remark while impersonating Palin that she could see Russia?
You didn't seem bothered when Joe the Gaffe-man didn't know when FDR was President, or, that he was known for his radio chats, not TV (which wasn't even in use then). Or that Lebanon isn't a NATO country, or that the US and France didn't kick Hezabollah out of there (and this, from the foreign policy expert).
So please, enlighten us about just what it is Palin doesn't know.

I meant press conferences where any reporter can ask any question. She didnt do any.
And as for stereotyping, it isnt stereotyping to notice someone is ignorant regardless of what they look like. It IS stereotyping (in a negative way) to say that any criticism of the intelligence of a beautiful woman is sexist. There are both smart and stupid beautiful women. We all know it. Sarah Palin is one of the stupid ones.
And the Russia comment had an original basis in reality. Sarah Palin actually said (and repeated, so there is no mistake) that one of the reasons she had foreign policy experience was the fact that the Russian President flew into Alaskan airspace. She also claimed that the maritime border in the Bering Sea also meant she had experience with Russia. She also said that you could see Russia from Alaska (not her house)
If she really thinks any of those things give her "foreign policy experience" then she is scarily ignorant.
But I sure do hope you guys keep on insisting how great she is!! In fact, ALL of us Dems hope you Repubs will nominate her as your candidate next time!!!

but not a word on the genius biden who has shown his is an idiot over many many years. biden has made many foreign policy gaffs yet he was brought onto the ticket specifically for his foreign policy 'experience'. Palin was not brought on for her foreign policy experience since McCain is considered strong in that department. obama reached out to a foreign policy idiot for foreign policy help but did that get mentioned? Repeatedly?
