A remarkable example of soft thinking.

Change? We gotcher change! So far, the economic side of change looks like a re-run of the Clinton administration. But the interesting one is SecDef!
If Mr. Gates is staying on, and it's well known that he is not enamoured of the job, I'd assume that it is because the new administration has indicated to him that there will not be substantial changes in policy for either Iraq or Afghanistan. I cannot imagine why the Left is hopping mad! (g)
No doubt the new administration will be forthcoming with the details that prevented the immediate withdrawal as promised. Or maybe they won't. Either way, it's doubtful that the Obama policy on Iraq will be significantly different than the Bush policy. Things always look different when it's your name going as the signature on the bottom of the orders sheet versus claiming anything to get elected.
And Hillary at the State Department? Isn't that where they conduct diplomacy? Can you name anyone less diplomatic? He he!
This is shaping up to be interesting. The strange new respect award for George Bush is less than a year away. You read it here first.

That's not true. I'm good friends with a conservative Christian homosexual political web-cartoonist. If you're not having trouble picturing such a creature: he's also a pro-America Canadian.

"Change" ?
It's obvious that President-elect Obama is committed to change in only a rhetorical manner if his appointments are anything to go by. It appears we're to get the third term of the Clinton administration, if not a good dose of the Gore administration. The focus will have to shift as Mr. Obama is about to be mugged by reality. The worry now, and it involves a group notoriously impervious to reality, is the Congress. We're about to see what a Congress dominated by the likes of Pelosi, Waxman, and Frank looks like. whatever emanates from the White House is going to seem tame by comparison.
So far, it's been hilarious for everyone but the Left, or those who thought that Obama meant what he said. "Be careful what you wish for...." (g)

You seem unable to wrap your mind around the idea of having a president who actually KNOWS what he is doing and is not a captive of his cabinet secretaries. Mr. Bush may have had trouble telling his appointees what they should do. Mr. Obama will have no such problem. It helps to have some intelligence and knowledge.
NOBODY is going to be pining for Mr. Bush. And if all that Obama does is provide a rerun of the Clinton economic policies I for one will be very happy. I dont think I'll be alone either.

Palin.
Why is it that when I turn on the television people are still talking about the governor from Alaska, the very same governor who was a Vice Presidential candidate in an election where her party lost .. like, almost a whole month ago. Did she get appointed to the United Nations while I wasn't paying attention, is she part of Obama's cabinet, did she become a Senator, or a member of Congress ? What the hell could be going on that she's a topic of conversation ... I mean seriously, she's the governor of a far flung state who didn't win any elections, isn't part of the party in power, .. let me say that a different way, isn't even a part of the party that controls CONGRESS, the SENATE, or the EXECUTIVE, isn't part of the JUDICIAL branch, I mean WHY is it that people are still talking about Sarah Palin like she has something ANYTHING to do with ANYTHING ? And the weirdest part is ... it's mostly Democrats who seem to be talking about her ??? I don't get it! She wasn't even that important when she was important!

Umm...they're worried? I suspect that the political eradication of the lovely Sarah is a priority at the DLC and the DNC. The lady could be a future problem they really don't want. It'd be different were she in Congress. Off in alaska she is free to rack up any type of, presumably good, record she wants without the Democrat party there to neutralize it. Just my opinion.

Windy, this is the main stream media hedging it's bets. They bet the farm on Obama, and went all in by promoting him night and day. What are they going to do if he's a failure? They'll have Palin waiting in the wings to come save the day. Just like Obama, they won't have enough good things to say about her. She will be the latest agent of the change that never really happens. If Obama is a stunning success, Palin will see a breif bit of media attention in 2012, never to be heard from again.
Don't get me wrong, I like Palin. If she shows up on the 2012 ticket, I'll vote for her. I just think the media is lining up the next golden child just in case they need her.
