I really intended to simply be comparing the amounts of money and the scale of the projects - one bridge vs. subsidies for the entire countries agricultural industry. In short, I was simply using the bridge to show how small an amount of money we are talking about when we are talking about subsidies ... the fact that it was New York City would be related more to Sway's point.
Naturally, but I think the comparison would be more relevant if you took into account the sizes of the populations of the two regions, or their economies, or at least the number of users of farms vs. users of bridges. In other words the comparison isn't valid because we're talking two very different scales.
Why is it Washington's job to take money to send elsewhere in the first place?

It is Washington's job to take money and send it elsewhere because SOME people are so ridiculously selfish that they think the government should actually install and maintain things like aids to navigation, GPS satellites, roads, cops, court systems, an army, a navy, schools, and God knows what else. How unfair is that? Sheesh, any reasonable person knows that we dont need such things.
I'm not talking about things used by people all over the country, but about things specific to a locality. Big difference. Taxes for things of a national nature are one thing, taxes that are just for redistributing money are something else.
For instance, why is the government giving people rebates for digital converter boxes? (Aside from the $40 million to advertise the fact)
(Give up on nav aids, they are used commercially as well as recreationally, and if the military didn't use GPS, it wouldn't be available either.)

The word craven comes to mind. That absolutely no one will be surprised by the names or amounts of monies given to the Clinton's will likely go unremarked except within the usual right wing broadsheets.

I wonder if Obama knew this all along, but it was his way to "out her". What would it do to their future prospects if Obama dropped Hilary now citing that she was no longer suitable to be in his cabinet? Seems like it could ruin her. On the other hand, it would probably end up burning both their houses down?
