Whole thoughts eh? Seems his "whole" line of thought is how to resurrect the New Deal. Which history has shown is great for solidifying political power, but doesn't do much for the economy. I guess that shows his ability to prioritize, huh?

Here's a thought for all you wealth re-distributors out there:
Maybe the top X percent make more because they actually provide more value??
Let me say it a different way, maybe in fact they are not equal and trying to equalize it is not a good thing.
Okay, one more try at saying it differently: Get out of my wallet and get off your ass.
Going to Sway's question:
My personal income more than doubled between 2000 and 2008. I retired from the Navy, studied my ass off and entered a new career field, took some bumps along the way (got fired once, laid off a couple times) but through hard work, long hours, lots of study and taking some risks I made it to the top two percent and I'm proud enough of that to want to hold onto to it.
To Sck and Rick
You want some of that, do some of that.

Um, the article said that Obama had a new job for his Veep. It was right there in the first sentence of the article. Have someone, maybe a precocious eighth-grader, read it to you.

Dave Barry weighs in with his take on the whole of 2008...
a small sample:
" FEBRUARY . . .
when, amid much fanfare, Congress passes, and President Bush signs, an "economic stimulus package" under which the federal government will give taxpayers back several hundred dollars apiece of their own money, the idea being that they will use this money to revive the U.S. economy by buying television sets that were made in China. This will seem much more comical in the fall."

Dear mr. sailaway.
Just because he said he had a new job doesnt mean Cheney's job. My point was that whatever they say, the vp job is going to be much more like it was during the first 200 years or so of the republic and not so much like the last 8.

That's interesting because, for some not insignificant portion of the nation's history the Veep was the losing candidate for the presidency. Is there a shortage of literate eighth-graders in upstate New York or is it that you just do not wish to read the article while reserving the right to comment on it mindlessly?

So sck, after months of hearing about Biden's vast realm of experience, you don't want, nor expect him to have any major role in advising the grossly inexperienced Obama?

cardiac has it right - that was about what i was thinking
PB also has it right - I dont expect Biden to do a whole hell of a lot unless something happens to Obama. I suppose he could help lobby congress but Emmanuel is in charge of that so he wont be the lead person there.
Sailaway may also be right - wow he is on a roll. Mindlessly commenting is what we all do isnt it? FUN! Not as fun as sailing but fun. Speaking of sailing, I am off to Belize to sail next week in my continuing scheme to convince my wife that cruising is the most wonderful way to live that there ever was. (It seems to be working so far - she even liked the 35 knot winds followed by dense fog on the chesapeake - Belize should be easy compared to that)) So you guys will just have to preach to the choir of frozen rightwingers while I live the life you can only dream of until spring.

Be sure to send Joe Average Biden a note before you depart for Belize apprising him of your wretched economic status and need for immediate economic relief. You'd hate to come back and find out you'd been lumped in with the rich now wouldn't you?

cardiac - yes, i sail! I even comment on sailing threads in sailnet sometimes! I have to say that most of the time I dont think I know as much as some of the regulars on here but yes, sometimes I do. More important than commenting on sailing is ACTUALLY sailing!. Since I live on a 40 mile long lake thats easy to do. Even better, I just bought a Caliber 33 which is sitting in Rock Hall at the moment waiting for better weather. That is likely to generate lots of questions as I get to know the boat but as you may have noticed, it is winter right now and all I got to know so far was how to winterize it. But Belize will cure all that at least for a couple of weeks. So have fun sailing your keyboard (Sorry, that was mean, I couldnt help it)
ps - i should get a cut of your lottery winnings if you buy the ticket because of me and win
