Hoover did what I wish we were doing, which was allow the $us to appreciate, but neither Republicans or Democrats are for that.

Obama is such a mystery to everyone, even his own people, that it's hard to support any argument one way or other about him because there's just so little evidence to support any point of view. So, yeah, your little tatter of evidence outweighs my total lack of any evidence.

There was an article yesterday over on Realclearpolitics about what would happen if foreign countries decided they no longer wanted to carry our debt. There wasn't enough pictures for me, but the gist was, it wasn't good and we can't rely on them to continue to fund our debt. And yet, that's our plan.

The government has been having problems. Times were good so they felt like it was okay to borrow money and start investing in new programs, upgrading infrastructure, doing research and development, etc. Now things are cooling off a bit, their tax revenues are falling, unemployment is rising, interest on the debt is becoming more expensive, so they have decided to borrow a huge pile of money and spend it in order to fix everything.

John Doe has been having problems. Times were good so he felt like it was okay to borrow money and start investing in a new house, new car, etc. Now things are cooling off a bit, his customers are pulling back and lowering what they're willing to pay him, so John Doe has decided to go out and borrow a huge pile of money and spend it in order to fix everything.

See, it sounds a lot dumber when John Doe does it, but for some reason since it's the government it's supposed to make sense.

Wow, this is hot, more a fiscal responsibility topic than political, if it were political we would say that the Democratic congress since the 1960's has fueled unchecked spending to the point that both parties are trying to buy votes, (damn the deficit, full speed ahead) or that any attempted check has been met with accusations of racism or worse (child haters).

I love my boat, I hope it is still on top of the water ...
