I keep waiting to hear the howls of outrage, by those who thought Bush was taking away our rights, against the Bonus Tax bill. Probably shouldn't hold my breath on that one.
Yeah, I actually wrote my congressman on that one, as he was one of the knuckleheads wiping his feet on the constitution. Thanks Cam for posting the info on "Bills of Attainder". I didn't think it was right what they were doing, but I didn't know it had already been addressed and specifically prohibited by the constitution.

MTboat has it right. Until the people at the top realize that we expect them to stand up and vote for our party's stated values...they will vote for themselves, and their continued re-election.
There is no solution other than for the public to stand up during one election cycle and vote every single incumbent out of office....not just the ones you don't like...every single one. That will send a message about WHO they work for that cannot be overlooked. Vote 'em OUT in 2010.
That's change I can believe in.

Just as a point of info. For 2010 this would result in a Republican majority in the House and a Democratic SUPER majority (fillibuster proof) in the Senate. No party would control the legislative process...though treaties and court appointees would be under sole control of Dems.

Oh, not to worry. Some "experts" think they can get around the Constitutional provision. And I would imagine Kennedy would vote with the libs if it got to the Supreme Court.

"stated values" of the republicans

as far as I can tell they are

tax cuts
more tax cuts, especially for rich people
for life before birth
nothing to help children AFTER birth
against volcano monitoring
against ANYTHING proposed by a democrat
against foreigners wherever they might be

there. have i forgotten anything?

Oh and lets not forget the dems

FOR sailboats!! (they are all ecological you know, wind power, etc.)

Nice segue for me sck, as you list your total distortions. For all the outrage at Bush and "you're either with us or against us", Bambi has made it clear last night that if you aren't for his plans, you're for doing nothing. That it's as disingenuous as sck's "list" matters little to the howling mobs about Bush being an Imperial President. The Messiah has come unto us, and we must do as we are told, for only he knows the true path. Talk about kool-aid.

so far Bambi is right. the repubs have yet to come up with an alternative plan that is more than repackaged tax cuts (which apparently are their response to any and everything, good or bad)

Nuts. Letting people keep more of their money sounds bad, very bad. Obama will fix that.

I guess my concern is Republican or Democrat....we are slowly loosing our rights AND working toward bankruptcy. Isn't anyone worried about money we keep spending and China....CHINA! is covering us. Doesn't that worry you just a little? And that Pres Obama keeps signing these bills for billions of dollars for bail outs with earmarks! Come on people......we are in big trouble here...and no one can stop the runaway train......

I don't the political leaders who are strongly religious. This type of thinking is very scary. It's okay to be a Dem or Rep., just don't be so religious.
