So far Bambi is right? About what? The time of day? Or perhaps you were referring to his belief that the only way to get out of debt, is to go even deeper in debt? So far, the only thing that's come out of his administration that hasn't tanked the market is, as Paul Krugman (certainly no fan of the GOP) has said, Paulson's recycled bank plan. To paraphrase the old R&B hit, if tripling the deficit is wrong, I don't want to be right.

After years of hearing about Bush and deficits (which I opposed much of his domestic spending), suddenly, deficits are no longer a problem. "Cause ya see, this is the new "Era of Responsibility".

I can think of a couple of godless leaders off hand, like Hitler and Stalin. I can't though, think of any god-fearing leaders who have practiced genocide on the order of those two.

Funny how Dems never see a spending problem (except on defense), they only see revenue problems. Lack of revenue never caused a deficit though, only spending.

They never learn

EJ Dionne, one of the knuckleheaded liberal standard bearers for the Washington Post, opined this morning that we need to be courageous and raise taxes if we are going to cure the deficit problem. They just can't understand a) that raising taxes does not bring in as much revenue as one might expect because people go to a lot of trouble to hide their income, and b) lowering the tax rate (not giving rebates) raises revenue because people have less incentive to hide income. Both JFK and Reagan proved this. But you can't teach a liberal anything. Dionne didn't even mention the possibility that the government might be spending too much. Never ocurred to him.

You maybe forgot the Crusades
also the Inquisition
also all of our own leaders in America who wiped out native americans as a matter of state policy
also all of the europeans who depopulated large parts of africa so they could ship slaves to the Americas

religion has been the excuse for lots of pretty awful things in the past.

drynoc is at it for the conservatives again! Increase revenue by collecting less revenue!

what rot. If that were right the way to cure the deficit would be to collect NO TAXES AT ALL!!

that'll be the day. no doubt the repubs would love to do it. The problem is that they spend money just as fast as any other party so what do we get? Huge deficits! Reagan proved it! So did Bush!

You guys are a one trick pony. You tried your one trick for 8 years. Until you find a new trick you had better get used to being out of office.

Sorry if this is news to you.

sure, you are right. i was just answering pb who seems to think that no evil can be done by god fearing leaders. i think that how religious they are (or pretend to be) has no real relationship to what they do.

The operative part of my post was "on the order of". I'm in no way saying bad things haven't been done in the name of religion. But, name me something good that has come out of a lack of it.

The gov. can't opperate w/out taxes, but is it would stick to doing only the things it was intended to do there would be no budget problem, and taxes could be significantly lower
