point remains that most of the founders did not use that word, it is unknown how it slipped in,
Your article explains how it was probably slipped in. (interesting choice of word there, do you really think it was slipped in?)

There are several possibilities

Jefferson changed his mind and reworded it to what we know today
The change was suggested by Adams.

The change was suggested by Franklin.

The change was suggested by both Adams and Franklin.
The change was suggested by one or both of the other two members of the committee of five or all four of them that was given the task of producing this document.

I fear you too have lost the meaning and clung to a word (Creator) which you translate as God. I can assure you that, had the founders know what you were going to twist, they would have even left out that word - creator.

I guess Creator of man can apply to everything from the first cell to your parents to a pair of Africans, from who we all sprung.
Sure it can mean any of those things, but whose twisting the definition now?

creator - definition of creator by the Free Online Dictionary, Thesaurus and Encyclopedia.

And, based on scholars - as you see above - we are not even supposed to be talking about this.

And yet you do.

Sorry craig, I should have been more specific. I was referring to your overall approach to responding to other's posts in general.

Ok, leave it to me to take the literal literally.
and the truth, truthfully
and the obvious, obviously......
and the rhetoric, rhetorically.....

Am I wrong that this is the way things are supposed to be taken?

Young hockey players breasts rubbing against me still don't conjure up any humor, sarcasm or cynicism I ever heard, and it seems you (John) are also unable to explain. Well, I'll just assume they were rants without any meaning. But, wow, I certainly can't imagine the family arguments in THAT household....

Though those who had no problem with the relentless parodies of Palin will probably take offense .........

Quote:
Obviously, this incident has raised many concerns among Americans. There have been calls for justice and even violence against the misguided perpetrators. But such an emotional reaction has led to the disparagement of entire groups with which we are unfamiliar. We have seen this throughout history.

For too long, America has been too dismissive of the proud culture and invaluable contributions of the Pirate Community. Whether it is their pioneering work with prosthetics, husbandry of tropical birds or fanciful fashion sense, America owes a deep debt to Pirates.

The past eight years have shown a failure to appreciate the historic role of these noble seafarers. Instead of celebrating their entreprenuerial spirit and seeking to partner with them to meet common challenges, there have been times where America has shown arrogance and been dismissive, even derisive.

Some of us wonder if our current Overseas Contingency Operation would even be needed had the last administration not been so quick to label Pirates as "thieves," "terrorists" and worse. Such swashbucklaphobia can lead to tragic results, as we have seen this week. From the Exurban League

ooooo, the President sees "glimmers of hope" in the economy, tee hee.

Republicans are going to be using those words against the President later, it'll be Obama's "Mission accomplished", except not as cool because there isn't a big carrier. Republicans and Democrats both make the mistake of tying their own success to the stock market, they never learn.

Educated people know how to speak.

"Glimmers".......equals tiny specks, pieces.......

Mission Accomplished = DONE, FINISHED, FINAL

Bring 'em on = Give our boys all you got....

But you are right - the stock market and jobs will make people change their views real quick.

As to the rabid right, sure - they will use any words the Prez says against him. Heck, if he were to pray, they would take those words, mix 'em up, and claim something.

I WISH the problems were over. But a horrible disease is rarely cured in a short time. All the problems must be worked through. Still, it is possible that people have more faith in the system and in the leadership....and that these can increase consumer confidence. It is also possible that the steps which the government has take (yes, BUSH and O) may start to stem the tide.......

But, honestly, no one really knows. We all simply hope.

I know that my portfolio is up over 20% in the last month. That does make me happy, especially since tax time is next week. That means I need money.....

I don't know craigimass, I think he was doing better to just keep talking like he was talking. I know he got some negative comments from some about talking the market down, but I felt he was just being realistic. "Glimmers of hope", I don't care who you are, that says things aren't as bad as they were, and that won't make any sense to the general public if the market puts in new lows or unemployment doubles. On a good note, they must really believe it is getting better, or going to get better, or they would never say something like that - Obama doesn't strike me as the kind of person who paints himself into a corner with his own words.

Exactly - he said that carefully right after a meeting with his economic advisers...who probably offered some "glimmers". But, of course, they don't know either.

The point is that I think most of them actually want it to get better and are doing their work in an attempt to make it so. That does not make it easy, nor their actions always right.

Even though we like to say History Repeats Itself, it really never does. These are complex matters, and there are literally trillions of possibilities. As we know, the number of moves on a regular chess board is as numerous as the atoms on the earth (or something like that).

Now, if one simple game has that many moves, consider how ridiculous it is for us to assume the complex relationships of billions of people, markets and forces........

That is precisely why I never really "know" anything. All you can do is guess and sometimes "feel" the direction of things.

Also, unemployment is a far lagging indicator. There is NO DOUBT that it will be going up. Sadly, that sometimes means MORE profits for corporations, so the market reacts favorably. Remember back when the axe men came into corporations and reorged....wow, the stocks shot up.

What is good for the goose is not always good for the gander. That part - the entire shifting of the economy and the creation of a new generation of workers and jobs - will take a while!

No, it does, it just doesn't do it the exact same way every time.
