Today on NPR's "Talk of the nation" there was discussion about rising "right wing extremism". One of the things brought up was that constituents tended to be more conservative than their representatives and that was a cause of frustration. I haven't been able to confirm that tidbit independently yet.

Which, if any, of those acts did Ralph Nader vote on, or introduce as legislation? For that matter, what particular expertise does Mr. Nader have in any of those areas? Sure, Ralph caused all those things to happen. And he's the Tooth Fairy also, in his spare time.

It's not my job to educate you as to history....
rather, perhaps you should tell me what William Garrison voted on to cause slavery to be abolished?
Answer: not a single thing, yet he is perhaps the man most credited for the abolition of that peculiar institution...
Only pols introduce legislation, and according to you they are all corrupt and terrible, so therefore it is catch-22, right? You were trying to trick me again.

Bit tough to educate anyone, when your own familiarity with the subject is deficient. Fortunately for us, you never let that get in your way.
I'm still waiting to hear about George Washington's law career, since you seem to be the only person who knows he was a lawyer.

You are absolutely right, PB.
I was looking at a list of ALL presidents and got confused because all of the first 6 WERE lawyers except GW.

I wonder how they would determine such a thing?
Obviously, the folks who hassle their elected representatives tend to be strong on one side of the fence or the other, but I can't imagine how one would go about figuring out how liberal or conservative their populations were......
I would say that representative run the gamut, but most are so political that you hardly know where they really stand....they reflect the views that they think will keep them elected, which would mean the views of the majority of the VOTERS, along with the views of the power players in their party orgs and big contributors.

Still haven't quite got it right craig. Madison was never admitted to the bar, though he did study law off and on. In other words, he wasn't a lawyer.

Well geez craig, you mean you're unsure if your two senators are liberal or conservative? Seeing as how there are fairly reliable groups on both sides who rate the Congress Critters by their votes (not their words), I think we can get a pretty good idea of where they stand.

Your point, PB?
If you remember back 10 pages, we were told that government and lawyers have done nothing for us, except chase ambulances and waste our money and time.
Are you now saying, after studying how many Presidents were lawyers, that it might be otherwise? Or do you stick to the view that we should not have people educated in the law, etc.?
Oh, BTW, my little one also has a full engineering degree, but she decided she did not want to sit in a cubicle all day. However, engineering does come in handy in understanding the environment and mitigation.

No, we weren't told that government and lawyers have done nothing for us. That's merely what you want it to say.
