Actually I for once agree entirely with Jack on this one. The propogation of internet myths and information helps no cause...even those that ssnead and I mostly agree on. If it sounds to weird to be true...I start with Snopes before I spread crap around.

It is somewhat humorous to have Jack as a teacher of critical thinking though!

my mistake. i posted an email that was sent to me without checking the facts. although some of it was erroneous, the point is that illegal aliens are costing the state of california billions each year. this is fact. god knows how much they are costing the rest of the country. and their contribution to american society is minimal at best. you seem to like a multilingual country, why don't you invite them up there? your healthcare system shouldn't have any problem shouldering the extra burden of say, forty million more? we are americans! if you wanna to live here, ya better damnsite wanna be an american, not a burden to me or anyone else who has to put with a buncha crap out of foreigners trying to tell us what is right and what is wrong with our country. i just wish our president would open his eyes and see what he's doing is wrong. it's not fair to the people who wanna stand on their own two feet, it's not fair to people who wanna live, thrive and be free. to hell with the ones who refuse to do for themselves, and to hell with those who would rob honest men of their dignity, their money and their freedom. those people are no more than oxygen thieves, and should be dealt with swiftly and justly....

No I do not read VF on a regular basis, but I am really enjoying this article. I am amazed the Conservatives can still be backing this nutjob.

Mrs Palin will take care of herself politically. Or she won't.

I'm reminded of a few other "dummies" in recent American history, mostly conservative. Barry Goldwater was going to nuke the world. Of course we got LBJ, more Viet Nam, and the Great Society. We're still trying to figure out how many wrong turns we made under that "intelligent" leadership of the "best and the brightest".

Then we had Ronald Raygun whom was going to blow up the world also (see a pattern?) and it was Bedtime for Bonzo and the US. He only knew a few things but those few things launched the largest peacetime expansion of the US economy since WWII and defeated the Soviet Union, ending the Cold War. Not bad work for a dummy reputed to be mostly asleep at the switch.

Then we had Dan Quayle whom had the temerity to mention that "Murphy Brown" might be setting a bad example by getting knocked up outside of marriage. That was a laugher from an Indiana buffoon, wasn't it? Not that Daniel Patrick Moynihan hadn't said exactly the same thing years earlier to similar scorn. The buffoon and the old professor don't look so unenlightened now that the single greatest predictor of poverty is single motherhood and out of wedlock births are now the norm and not the exception. Some actually notice how those liberal elites who mocked those two worthies now just ignore that seventy percent of black childbirth is out of wedlock and the rest of the nation is moving in that direction.

Then we had the village idiot from Texas, GW Bush. His myopic vision was that America had been attacked and somebody ought to do something about it. He said some really stupid things like, "you're either for us, or against us". Wait awhile. It won't look quite so stupid when Russia does nothing to halt the Iranian bomb and the Persian Gulf eventually becomes a free-fire zone. Nobody will remember the tough talk and the actions to back it up that kept us, and most of the world, safe for seven years. There won't even be a mention of failed diplomacy or feckless allies; all you'll hear is the yelling for help from the US Navy and that the US must stop the madness. A single-minded cowboy from Texas will look good about then.

Given the lack of intelligence exhibited by the above "dummies" I doubt that Mrs Palin's future will be limited by her lack of egghead bona fides. Personally, I think that the three things she does know that are right are far more important than the myriad things that Hillary Clinton knows that are mostly and irretrievably, wrong. And that thought makes me chuckle, when I then consider who I'd rather have for a neighbor, either on land or at the marina, the Clinton's or the Palin's. Ain't even close...even when you toss out the results from the swimsuit competition!
