Hey sway
a post from you i agree with! Obama is very vague in what he says (apart from being pretty clear he will get out of Iraq). It IS a cult of personality on the part of many, but his success is a measure of two things: Many people really really dont like the way the country has been run in the last 7 years. I know you disagree with that sentiment but there sure are a lot of people who are hungry for a change. The second element is that many of us over here in liberal lala land really dont want Hillary to be our candidate.
You have to admit, though, that for somebody who spends a lot of time saying not very much, Obama says it with real style.

sck5 - that's the whole point. Instead of letting them playact, why don't they ask why they aren't doing things more substanative? By allowing the playacting, it merely enforces the notion that issues aren't really important, only that we pretend they are.
You can watch any of the Sunday "News" shows and watch the host ask a question to which the answer is, if not a flat out lie, throughly disengenious, yet they never call them on it.

Amen to that. I am tired of watching them fail to follow up with these guys. It is a bipartisan disease - they dont follow up on either side - and the questions they ask in the first place seem designed to generate conflict to report on rather than shed light on issues. For ex. they seem more interested in getting Huckabee to flame McCain or Obama and Hillary to flame each other than in finding out what any of them would actually DO if they got in

I don't particularly care how Obama says it, I can read it, and I say it's spinach. Read here: http://my.barackobama.com/page/commu...hamfelsen/Cmzm
Then tell me why a retiree making almost fifty grand should not pay taxes. Am I the only unemployed rocket scientist who doesn't know that this amount's to a huge tax cut to the least productive members of our society, not to mention, the least in need of it? That's fifty G's by the way on top of the 50% of SS earnings that already aren't taxed. And has anybody else in the Obama conga-line taken a look at the US demographics? Retiree's making less than $50,000 are about to become one of our single largest demographic groups. I'm in favor of cutting taxes in virtually all instances, but this is a blatant pandering to the baby-boomers who are the wealthiest generation to ever grace our soil, and the most accustomed to government hand-outs.
I also like the further help you'll get in paying for your mortgage and college.
There's some seriously expensive thinking going on here.

Being the soft and sensitive guy that I am, I wish some of ya'll would stick to facts and opinions and stop the personal attacks. I guess that's what the ignore button is for.
Obama put forth this bill because silly advisors told him he needed to do something other than spout 'change'. Altho the bill has no serious demands other than a report it shows a external focus that should have folks scratching their collective heads and wondering "I thought he meant change here".
He has no focus except getting elected. When that becomes the goal smart folks start walking away. I hope American voters are a lot smarter than they have proven themselves to be in the past.
