Five days of comment before signing any bill.

He's already broken that promise once and now does so again.

That he takes 4 days to sign the "emergency" legislation, so that he can do it in a political context, advantageous, not to the country, but to his own political fortunes only shows further the disingenuousness of his promise. Coming on top of Pelosi, after a unanimous vote to do so, not posting it for 48 hours so she wouldn't miss her trip to Rome completes the lie.

One can easily imagine the howls of outrage, had Bush made such a promise and not kept it. Heck, it hardly requires any imagination at all. In the Age of Obama though, as Chris Matthews said so openly, the role of the media is to ensure he succeeds, not that of objective reporting.

Yeah, let's get that part straight. There isn't time for our congressmen to read the stimulus bill prior to voting on it but, it takes four days and a trip halfway across the country for the President to sign it? What's up with that? Just another Obamateur action?

The market is telling us what this bill really means

The Vix, a measure of volatility, is at near record levels today.

The irony of this thread is that the automatic ad program dropped an Obama ringtone ad in at the top. I know sway has his already, how about the rest of you? Pearljam is still working for me so I think I'll pass.

"The market is telling us "
You mean, the same market that old us fairie tales for the past five years and then collapsed because the audience forgot to believe in fairies this year?

If anyone really KNEW how to get out of this hole, the Pope would have canonized them by now. Oh, wait, that's right...there is one SURE way to get out of it. All the overpaid thieves who worked at brokerage, mortgage, and banking houses and took home eight-figure paychecks for the past ten years--all for doing nothing--could be forced to give back every penny they currently still own.
That would do wonders for the shareholders. And the folks who were given mortgages they never should have gotten? Deserve to either be made whole again, or allowed to starve in the cold, depending on whether you believe in a paternal government or simply a Darwinian one.

The money didn't disappear. It got skimmed off, like cream from the top, and stuffed into too many undeserving pockets. And everyone was happy, as long as they could go along for the ride.

I am just curious as to why Obama had to fly to Denver to sign the bill. That was a great savings to the taxpayers. And you expect me to believe he, Obama read the bill he signed. If given a test on what the bill he signed contained, I'd bet my retirement he couldn't pass it. Oh, I mean whats left of it.
