All I know, if I was any kind of a political activists, I'd be raising hell that I wasn't getting my share of air time to save the gay whales. This could turn into a big can of worms.

At least the way it is now, I can listen to NPR in the morning and then Fox news in the evening and end up with a pretty dim view of everyone.

Later, in 1967, two corollary doctrines were added. The first was the political editorial rule, requiring that if a station editorialized either for or against a candidate for public office, the station had to notify the disfavored candidate within 24 hours and allow him/her to reply to the editorial; the second was the personal attack rule, which states that when a person or group's character or integrity is impugned during the discussion of a controversial issue, the station must notify the person within one week, and offer a reasonable time for response.
this is from NOW with David Brancaccio. Politics & Economy. What Happened to Fairness? | PBS

imagine if everytime you stated so-n-so was this way or that way you had 24 hours to notify them and give them a chance to respond to it. then you would not say **** either way. that is a great way to stop dissent, it burdens every one with lots of paper work

ray your choice of npr in the morning vrs fox at night is why they said the fairness doctrine was done away with, people where thought to have enough knowledge to find both sides. but now they want to regulate it

Greetings. So are you going to stick around to expand on this position or just let the bomb go off and then run away? That seemed like an intentional slam to me (but then again, there weren't any pictures, so I could have misread it)

No, it is not a personal, intentional slam, no bombs, it just seems to me that the Farness Doctine (nice friendly, cool-aid type name) is a vehicle for the Left leaning Federal Govt to impose regulations on what food is good for my brain..are you kidding? I do not need Pelosi, Reid nor the NYTimes to Legislate Fairness. I'm sure the Fairness Doctrine would not apply to the Times..they are Already objective (sarcasm)....yes I will be happy stick around, I really like you guys, I am OK with any opnion that is intellectually honest.

Boy, I completely misread your post. Sorry 'bout that. I inferred that it was the non-kool aid drinking independent types that were proposing it. My bad.

out of thin air

I can't find anything to suggest that the fairness doctrine is being revisited. Might I suggest that we wait for an actual problem before slamming. The fairness doctrine was sensible when the outlets were limited. A few national stations, both TV and radio, were capable of monopolizing the discussion. Today that just isn't true. I don't think you will see anything on this front.
