And just who are these old farts you speak of?

I am a old hippy. Who says hippies can't be conservatives?. Just because I believe in free love doesn't mean I have to be Godless or a communist.
Nor does it mean I have to check my common sense at the portal.

Perhaps the answer lies in the simple belief of substance over style.

One of the basic differences between liberal and conservative philosophy is that conservatives believe you create your own level of success, while liberals believe everyone should have equal levels of success. The first takes effort to work towards a goal, the second only requires waiting for the government to act to achieve an impossible ideal.

Har de har har!

Here the difference is that the conservatives revel in their freedom of speech and love debating matters. The liberals, 'er, progressives already know the proper order of things by their lights and see no need for debate. But you'll notice that, as the above post demonstrates, they cannot stay away. It's like pornography to them; they wash their hands of it nightly but, the next day.....

I find the conservative or liberal pigeon holes insulting and intolerant...Black and white....good and evil......

It saddens me that we've paired off like this and how hatefully we try and impose our absolute riches ness.

It has really started to turn me off from this forum.

I enjoy a friendly joust as much as the next guy…..as long as it’s friendly.
But it seems with politics and religion that level of civility is just too much to ask.

kaluvic - that's why there is a separate forum for such posts. That way, you don't have to read them. It's called making a choice for yourself, rather than having someone else make it for you.

It’s knowing that these are the ways of folks I interact with in other threads.

I guess it’s an insight into people’s traits that affects my desire to communicate with them at any level on any subject.
