Ha, having raised a number of kids.......folks are right when they say "there are a lot of things you DON'T want to know".
I firmly reside in that camp....and since they are now 35,33 and 25 I think (largely) they made it through. Heck, I certainly would not want my parents to know the chit I did....well, they know most of it now anyway.
I would not argue for punishment for the school system or principal, just for what others ask for - guidelines for such actions. At the same time, I don't subscribe to the idea that we always have to know everything. If we did, we would simply station a cop in the parking lot of every bar and have them do a breath check on every patron leaving in a car. In that case, we 100% know that LOT of people are doing the crime and ending up killing people.
So, why don't we? The answer may shed some light on the original question here.....like, innocent until proven guilty, and unreasonable search. Although since I know LOTS of people who drink 6-12 beers and vodka, etc. and drive almost every night, it would seem quite reasonable to test them all.
