If the bill was so huge that it was impossible to read, maybe THAT will cause them to create bills that ARE readable.

Re: The real Obamacare plan

CBO has come out with a new estimate on the cost of the Affordable Health Care Act. Twice as much as the original estimate!

Quote:
· Soaring costs. ObamaCare will cost $1.76 trillion over a decade, according to a new projection released Tuesday by the Congressional Budget Office, rather than the $940 billion forecast when it was signed into law.

The new 10-year projections cover nine years of ObamaCare’s implementation (2013-2022). Original estimates counted only six years of implementation — a budget gimmick to obscure the true cost of the law. At this rate, the conservative estimates of ObamaCare’s cost will be $2 trillion over 10 years, not the $1 trillion that President Obama promised.

· Lost coverage. Sen. Mike Enzi (R-WY) released a statement saying that the CBO’s estimate also shows that the new health law will dramatically increase Medicaid spending and result in 4 million fewer people getting health insurance through their jobs. So much for being able to keep the coverage you have now “no matter what,” as the president promised.

A new poll from The New York Times and CBS News reveals that a substantial majority of Americans — 57 percent to 36 percent — favor an exemption for religious-affiliated employers. And a sizable majority — 51 percent to 40 percent — still favors a religious and moral exemption for all employers.

Re: The real Obamacare plan

One can only hope that the doubling of the cost of Obamacare will result in a doubling of the number of people against it.

Re: The real Obamacare plan

Read this in another forum and had to share.

Let me get this straight. We've been "gifted" with a health care plan we are forced to purchase and fined if we don't, written by a committee whose chairman says he doesn't understand it, declared deficit neutral by a CBO that only underestimated SS and Medicare costs by about 100 trillion dollars, give or take a few trillion, passed by a Congress that hasn't read it but exempts themselves from it, gaveled into law by a Speaker who states we have to pass the damn bill to find out what's in it, signed into law by a President who smokes, supported by a first diet guru with a backside the size of a battleship beam, exclaimed to be a big effin' deal by a sleepy VP with Attention Deficit Disorder, considered to be such a great plan by the unions that hundreds of them supported it, then promptly applied for and were granted exemptions from it, enforced by an Attorney General with a terrible case of Amnesia, policed by 16,000 new IRS agents who are "here to help you", with funding administered by a Treasury Secretary who "forgot" to pay his taxes, to be overseen by a Surgeon General who's obese, and financed by a country that's broke. What could possibly go wrong?

Pretty much sums it up, carry on.

Re: The real Obamacare plan

Lack of an affordable public health care IS a huge economic liability. 40% of homelessness being due to the lack of affordable public health care IS a huge economic liability. Obama care could never be worse than the current extortion system of health care scamming in the US.
The NAFTA agreement was twice the size of a Nanaimo phone book. I know . I filled a dumpster with copies, after the deal was sealed.

And as the CBO has indicated, will be an even BIGGER economic liability under Obamacare.
