Urine Test

THE JOB - URINE TEST

Like a lot of folks in this state, I have a job. I work, they pay me. I pay my taxes and the government distributes my taxes as it sees fit. In order to get that paycheck, I am required to pass a random urine test with which I have no problem. What I do have a problem with is the distribution of my taxes to people who don't have to pass a urine test.

So here is my question: Shouldn't one have to pass a urine test to get a welfare check because I have to pass one to earn it for them? Please understand, I have no problem with helping people get back on their feet. I do, on the other hand, have a problem with helping someone sitting on their rump-doing drugs, while I work. Can you imagine how much money the state would save if people had to pass a urine test to get a public assistance check? I guess we could title that program, 'Urine or You're Out'.

Pass this along if you agree or simply delete if you don't. Hope you all will pass it along, though. Something has to change in this country - and soon!!!!

All the best!

Mike - you do love viral emails. This one is over 2 years old.

At least give credit where credit is due.

Jackdale,
Good Ideas like this NEVER goes out of style for noteworthy current events like we have at this time....
Just look at you crime log in the newspapers and you'll see that were throwing good money away.
If they want a free handout, lets have them earn it, like doing a little public minded neighborhood cleanup, so to speek.
We have an area here in Newport News, VA where the house owners don't feel saft to just go outside on their own front lawn, for fear of getting shot at, it's a complete mess.

Would you also hold to that belief when you are talking about Social Security Checks or disability checks and unemployment checks? All of which your taxes support.

Mike

I absolutely agree the welfare reform is necessary, even in Canada. I also understand that many communities in both Canada and the US are becoming less safe. We have gang problem here in Calgary. While they are mainly killing each other, there have been some by-standers killed and wounded.

Is urine testing the solution? Maybe. But when I checked out the source of your posting I found a couple of discussions that indicated that false positives were an issue. Urine testing might be a simple solution, but not foolproof and not with a cost. Who would pay for the testing?

Complex problems usually require complex solutions.

My main concern with the initial posting is that many of these viral emails circulate without any critical thought. That is why I check them out.

Jack

Why not add lottery tickets, cigarettes and alcohol to the list of things that will cause a loss of benefits? I too don't appreciate paying taxes so someone can sit home all day smoke, drink, get high, watch cable and do their scratch offs. But many of these people have children. Do we as a society punish the child for the sins of the father? Do we put them all in foster homes? There is just no easy solution.

The Social Security checks are, for the most part, earned. Won't/can't comment on the other two.
