what the self admitted looney left want

i some times go to a web site that i wont name ( follow the link if you dare ) that are the self admitted looney left. these are the ones upset that obama has not done enough lefty stuff, are crying over teddy's death etc.

i actually read a post from this site by a woman who was driving on a road in the middle of now where and saw a broken down car with a woman and child sitting near it. she said started to pull over to help until she saw a bush bumper sticker, she then pulled away. she said this happened in texas in the summer, this woman actually left another woman and a child in texas summer heat becuase of a bumper sticker. others on the site commended her.

this site has a thread going on what they want in this country, its total socialist and communism. not slightly but over the top make karl marx blush type stuff.

heres a sample
- Single-Payer Universal Health Care
- US Withdrawal from Iraq
- US Withdrawal from Afghanistan
- Dismantling of US military bases abroad
- Nationalization of US banking system
- Public Transportation renewal projects- Rail, Trolley, Bus etc.
- 4 day work week
- Removal of monied lobbyists from political arena
- Elimination of Agribusiness subsidies
- Elimination of NAFTA and other "free trade" agreements
- Public funding of elections
- Affordable/Clean public housing options with subsidies for the indigent
- Elimination of all reactionary drug laws
- Reformation of American penal system
- Elimination of the CIA
- Increased taxes on the wealthy and big business
- Nationalization and expansion of Food Banks serving healthy food instead of government cheese
100% renewable energy use.
As much recycling as we can do.
More forests, and not just pine forests.
Solar panels on every rooftop, failing that, paint them all white.
White asphalt for all roadways.
- Public ownership of all residences, with assignment of living space based on individual and societal need, not personal resources
- Public ownership of the production and distribution of necessities (food, clothing, energy)
- Occupational assignment from a single central agency with the responsibility to place workers in a socially productive manner, based on a combination of skill and historic compensation for prior discrimination
- A ban on health-robbing food (esp. red meat, empty calorie salty snacks, unnatural sugary beverages), alcohol, and tobacco
- Immunity from taxes for the first $20,000 in income, 50% tax rate for six figure incomes, and 80% tax rate for everything above $1,000,000

here is a kicker for ya

Full prosecution of those who oppose any progressive movement

thats right if you dont agree 100 % with any of the stuff they want you go to jail

finally the link

And I could point to rightie looney stuff. Why not deal with what's on the table instead of extreme crap from any side. You worry about society (root word Social) because of some political musings rather than stuff that is happening now? And how does this affect my sailing. I've never seen such a paranoid group of people that want to split the country in my life as the right wing of late.

If anyone has ever screwed this nation over on a consistent basis is those that practise "free enterprise" but are the first to lobby government for lax labour laws, cheap taxes, government contracts, government bail-outs, cheap infra-structure to conduct business on....... and the list goes. The mantra of keep government out of business, works only exactly as that - only a mantra. In reality, business sucks off of society in ways we have yet to discover.

So I wouldn't too much about web sites, I'd worry more about the hypocrisy of real life.

There are indeed some items on the list that are looney. But don't you think that is part of the appeal of being a radical? Radical right, radical left. They're just trying to get a rise out of you, that's all.

Some of his items reflect little more than ignorance of history. We already nationalized the banks. Sucked. Andrew Jackson killed it. Got his picture on the 20$ bill for it, too.

White asphalt? Oh, yeah.

Ignore him. Better yet, encourage him. The left were poor losers when they lost and now than they have won they are poor winners. Their now you're gonna hafta do it our way! attitude will get them tossed of of office in fairly short order and the louder the Loonies can be made to scream the more likely the independents are to vote for a conservative.

As with everything else in life ya can't have moderates unless you've got extremist. Can't have heaven without hell, good without bad, pain without pleasure, etc. It's the bell curve of distribution:

Just plug in the two values and this shape pops up every time.

What do you have against a 4 day work week?

Ok here are the things I would find passable as a Loony northerner

-Single-Payer Universal Health Care
- US Withdrawal from Iraq
- reduction of Military spending and a evaluation of US bases abroad
- Public Transportation renewal projects- Rail only
- Removal of monied lobbyists from political arena
- Elimination of Non GATT Agribusiness subsidies, all remaining Ag subsidies should be of a safety net nature
- Public funding of elections or at least severe restrictions on limits(tell that to the Supremes)
- treatment of Drug addiction as a medical issue and legalization and taxation of Pot.
-National goal of replacing fossil fuels by 2025
- Straight Flat tax starting at 25k paid monthly.

well koot the one that jumps out to me from yours is the flat tax, that is a conservative view. the fossil fuel thing is impossible, i you disagree tell me how you think it can be done. i agree on the pot thing, the election thing, would effect both sides, except the left side does not count unions buying commercial time as something that would be restricted. as for rail, well amtrak is not really cheaper than planes and it looses millions a year, so its a dead market, get the .gov out of it.

if you want to cut the military, which is about 21% of the budget. how much lower do you want it to go, and how many jobs would be lost cutting the military spending. how many military people out of the service, how many military suppliers cutting workers can you handle?

Quote:
U.S. Secretary of Defense Robert Gates wrote in January 2009 that the U.S. should adjust its priorities and spending to address the changing nature of threats in the world: "What all these potential adversaries—from terrorist cells to rogue nations to rising powers—have in common is that they have learned that it is unwise to confront the United States directly on conventional military terms. The United States cannot take its current dominance for granted and needs to invest in the programs, platforms, and personnel that will ensure that dominance's persistence. But it is also important to keep some perspective. As much as the U.S. Navy has shrunk since the end of the Cold War, for example, in terms of tonnage, its battle fleet is still larger than the next 13 navies combined—and 11 of those 13 navies are U.S. allies or partners."[30] Secretary Gates announced some of his budget recommendations in April 2009.[31]
The Defense budget is some 700 billion of which 100 billion is a war budget. You pay some 30-120 billion in interest on past war debt depending on how you slice it. I suspect that every dollar you save closing overseas bases probably wont affect US employees to a great degree. Ending Iraq/Afganistan would save a ton. Also reducing government spending can only have a positive impact on the US economy as a whole.
