You're argument might make sense IF all your taxes went to social assistance programs. Obviously this is not the case but it is easier to kick poor people than too admit that as a conservative the system needs to be reformed not bombed.
You talk about putting in over 20 years of service, well you can belly up to the bar and pay your share for Military spending, Homeland Security spending, Roads, Libraries, Medicare... Oh and the federal interest on the national debt.
You cannot pick and choose which taxes you want to pay and which ones you do not want to pay. I agree that there are people that need to be cut loose to fend for themselves because they live off the system. There are others out there that need a hand. My mother was a single parent and worked 50 hours a week in a nursing home and without social assistance her, my sister and I would have been on the street. She couldn't afford to upgrade her skills because after the bills were paid there was nothing left for her. She didn't smoke or drink or play the lottery so there were on sin taxes to trim. She received no support payments from her ex-husband, it would have been easier to get blood from a stone. I learned the value of a dollar, worked my way to a BA in business without a student loan and now in my early thirties I feel financially secure and contribute to society. That wouldn't have happened if I spent my youth on the street.
If you're argument is that welfare needs reform and the tax system in general has issues that need to be addressed then I couldn't agree more. If however your argument is that you don't like people taxing advantage of the system so you don't want to pay any taxes, well grow up.
